stripes and decals are on (56K no)

a few people were asking for me to post pictures once the decals and stripes were on, especially because i ditched the original black/gold scheme and went with black/silver. i still need to find some silver IROC-Z emblems, but anyways, this is what it turned out like

and yes i know it is pretty dirty, it rained today and i had to drive it through the rain to work

Hmm..makes the car look "too busy".
Also, get some 88-90 IROC-Wheels....will improve the look 100X.

Nice car! You should have got the guy who did your IROC-Z door stickers to make you a right side door one instead of giving you 2 left side door stickers. Very common BTW. These decal guys don't study the stickers enough before printing them.

Oh so thats what happened? I kept looking at the decals and saying something different. I thought maybe just a different size font but now it makes since. Anyway not that it really matters cause it looks great either way. Hows the rest of the car doing?

both of us

but seriously, i put the stripes back on b/c it's an IROC-Z, and that's the way it came from the factory. i dont see it as making it too busy or whatever, i see it as being what it SHOULD look like

as far as the wheels are concerned, the original gold 15" IROCs are in the basement. they're too ugly for me...i'm going to a swap meet on the 30th of this month, and i plan to bring home a set of chrome wheels. so stay tuned and i might have another suprise for you all

i cleaned it up after it stopped raining, so here's some better pictures

I agree! Even though the 91 and 92 cars have a sleeker look due to no stripes, IROC's will always be IROC's and they will have a huge following in the future.

Thats an interesting paint color... maybe its the picture making it look odd. What color is that exactly? It looks like a really dark burt red or brown. Not too many 3rd gens that color.

Is the car wet still or did you make a boo-boo in the paint booth?

looks good and the gold emblems are hardly noticable.. I'd say leave'em.

definatly get some iroc or aftermarket rims, it just looks wrong with the newer style on there.

Looks darn good I think. The striping is what made the car I've always thought. But isn't the black stripe supposed to be on top?

I had to correct my first post here. You are correct! The black stripe was on the bottom for the '85-'87 IROC's. They switched to the top stripe for the '88-'90 IROC's.

For sure no big deal and most people won't notice, and the black stripe next to the ground effects looks better anyway. Still the best looking cars GM ever built in my opinion.

I certainly wouldn't worry about it. It looks awesome! Rare color too! Parking that baby next to your blue 'vert will definitely slow down traffic as they drive by your house.

its looking good man. is that the stock color paint for your 88 iroc? b/c it looks alot diferent than mine in your pictures. but ya i like the silver stripes soo much better than that nasty gold. what kind of wheels are you hoping to get for it? i definitely agree with leaving the stripes on, most people dont and i think the same as you its an iroc and the stripe package is one of the exterior things that seperates it from other cars. im still trying to decide whih stripes i want to go with with mine. its either going to be like yours or the same as it is now except with a black iroc-z sticker. but ya nice work man glad yo took my advice and i agree with what was mentioned earlier the gold emblems arent very noticable it wouldnt bother me too much.

1989 had a bright red and a darker red, this is supposed to be the dark red but it actually came out more orangish-brownish. still looks pretty cool though. my friends can vouche for me in that it looks 10x better in person than it does in pictures. the photos kind of lose the depth of the color that you would normally see in person. there's a bit more metallic flake in it than what you can see in the photos.

i'd like to get a nice set of chrome 17" wheels for it. maybe some more ZR1's or American Racing. i dont know for sure. my dad loves the ZR1's so he said he wouldn't mind helping out the purchase if it's for a set of ZR1's

i'm going to a swap meet on the 30th so i'm hoping to find a set of wheels, and maybe a set of silver emblems. if not, then i wont worry about the emblems. y'all are right, they're hardly noticible

Actually that color is not Burgundy but Burnt metallic Orange which many people mistook for Burgundy. There were a few IROCs that came in that color and it was quite rare.

Lookin' Good!

Good Luck tryin to find the silver Iroc-Z emblems. I tried for a year while I rebuilt a buddy's Iroc for him while he was overseas, and had NO luck at all. I had one place say they had them, but after they charged my credit card, they notice, oh they were o0ut and could not get more, I did get a refund, and 1/2 off some 87 Z28 emblems instead, which worked out casue it was an 87 Iroc anyway, so they were correct, we just wanted to go with the 88-90 Iroc emblems.

Diggin the stripes! Is that the stripe kit for irocs from Hawks? I am definatly thinking about picking one of them up to replace my RS stripes and just leaving the IROC logos off! HOT!

the custom emblems? as in the polished metal looking ones? i thought about it, but they dont have the Tuned Port Injection emblem...it'd look kinda stupid with a black and silver rubber emblem with those
