Headlight Covers???

Does Anyone really know what there benefits are I've got a pair of GTS Headlight covers but what do they really do. I've noticed they've cut down my headlights brightness a lil bit, do they help on gas or aerodynamics?

they are for looks, any help in areodynamics or drag is simply marginal.

Actually, there was an article about this in Chevy High Performance. It offers a very big improvement in aerodynamics. I believe it lowere the coefficient of drag from about .34 to .31. While this may not sound like a huge improvement, keep in mind that, because of drag, as speed doubles, the amount of horsepower it takes to push a car at that speed is squared.
For example, if at 50 it takes your can 4hp less to push it though the air due to the covers, it would be 16hp less at 100. It adds up pretty quickly. With headlight covers, the thirdgen 85-newer Z-28 or IROC is an EXTREMELY aerodynamic car. I think there was one guy who was going about 186mph with only 330hp. It takes a C5 vette 345hp to go 172mph. Even the Z06 can't go 186.

I just got me a set of GTS headlights and those damn things keep flying off. Im really getting tired of ordering new ones. Do they have the drilling ones and if so were do they sell it. Lets say for example you have the covers mounted on pretty good, what speed must u avoid so they dont fly off.

I've had mine for a few months now. Been up to 110 with them on, never lost one. did you put the angle peice in as well as the side? maybe that makes a difference? I take mine off at night though, (DoH) I'm going to get some fairly nice driving lights so maybe I wont have to do that anymore. I think taking them off at a carwash would aslo be a good idea.

They keep flying off because of the ****ty tape that they come with. Go to autozone and get their double sided tape. Mine have yet to come off. But MAKE SURE you have the holders where you want them because if you take the tape off after you put it on it will either not come off or tear your paint off. But the light covers wont come off! hope I helped.

the Z06's top speed is even less than the base model Corvette, because of the higher gear ratio's

To solve your problem of your headlight covers flying off, set them back about 1/8 to 1/4 inches. A friend of mine with a 92 RS informed me of that. I have an 86 Iroc and have gone 160mph, and no problems with my covers. You have to put them on so the air won't catch the front edge and pull them up.

just a few quick questions:
1) So what brand of headlight cover is best? (or are they all the same?)
2) Once you get them on, can you change them or take them off (like dark ones for day, lighter ones for night)? Or is this a forever decision?
3) Should I just sack up and buy some, and move on to worry about more important things like cams?

I have a 92 RS.
where do you get the headlight covers and can you take them off whenever you want to and put them back on? how much do they cost?
