here's my new hood i made for an 84 z28.

The old hood was dented and VERY rusty.

the new hoood was a stock flat hood, i cut a hole in it so the aircleaner has more room. Topped it off with a plastic hoodscoop.

There will be a new 383ci engine it.

Costed me lots of sanding and i used minor bondo to make it smooth.

had to cut off the trims that were on the scoop, it had tape on the bottom to stick it on a hood.

but i wanted to make it smooth.

the 2nd pic doesnt do it justice at all, (car will be painted...someday).

That looks cool. It would be really cool if you could have it coming through the hood and have the "shaker" effect like on the mustangs.

i think it looks pretty good.. its on smoothly on there right? like no seam in between the scoop and the hood?

So you said that you wanted to wanted to smooth it. Did you mean the scoop to the hood, seamless?

Just a word of warning... With a plastic hood scoop on a metal hood there is a extremely good chance you will have issues with the seam cracking. There is so much pull on the hood from the wind when you are driving that that plastic scoop is going to flex. That flex will continually cause cracking at the mounting point b/w the 2 surfaces.

I mounted the ta fender scoops in the ta fenders seamlessly and i and having some cracking issues! This is after locking the vents in place and then fusing them to the fender with a 3m product designed for bonding unlike surfaces.

So if you plan to do this be prepared!

Yes, it is on smooth, upclose you wont see any lines or whatever, it looks just like its made out of one piece.

heres a pic up close, i like the scoop being not too big, just right i.m.o.
BTW: i used fiberglass-epoxy (or whatever its called in english) on the inside to make it strong, i used minor bondo on the outside to make it smooth.

I think it looks good, You did it right, looks like you took your time with it and it came out good.

 

those last pictures look alright, it doesnt look that cheap cause it looks like it was done correctly. Im not to fan of the look but as long as its not tacky/cheap looking i think its fine. You see lots of people put those scopes on hoods, but they dont actually bond them on thats why it can look cheap sometimes. Great craftsmanship though!

i dont think it looks that bad. yes there are better aftermarket hoods out there than the one you made, but that doesnt look like something i would laugh at or call ugly if i saw it driving down the road

remember guys, he's in the netherlands, i bet shipping of an aftermarket hood from like Ohio or some place is NOT going to be cheap. i think it turned out pretty good for the amount of $$$ involved. once painted, i think it'll look really good and probably turns heads already. and i'm definitely a fan of getting cool air to the motor. now, make a pan out of aluminum and foam to seal the carb to the hood so it ONLY ingests cold air.

Yes, it might look a little tacky if anything only because it's not completed...But certainly not cheap. The job looks really well done and once you painted, it's going to be a wicked sweet hood.

 

i hope you know thats a ford hood scoop my brother has one on his restored and complety stock ford torino

on my iroc i have a cowl induction type 4 inch, so i wanted something different on this camaro.

I also wanted some more room because of the new engine and somesort of cold air induction, so this is the scoop i picked.

i made a bit of a mess of the cowl induction scoop, so i wanted to do it right this time.

Man everyone is so quick to knock it down, yet if you make it a bit longer and put a hump down the center it be identical to the big block or what ever that other hood is that everyone has....

i think it looks good, nothing extravagant or over the top, almost just small and subtle i like it and give ya props for the time involved
