Are My 15" IROC wheels rare
Ok, just a thought/question. I have a 1990 IROC with almost every option but the 350. But my question is, why do i have the 15" double line IROC wheels I have never seen any other car with the same wheels and cannot find them anywhere. Are these really rare and why did I not get the 16's? Was it ordered like that from the factory? Whats the deal guys?

they were the base model IROC wheels, the 16" wheels were an upgrade. are they rare? sure, but not exactly desirable. if you're looking to get rid of them, they are popular with the guys that drag race. or, you could get another set of 16" IROCS and keep the 15" wheels to put slicks/drag radials on and keep the car looking stock.

Like mw66nova posted the 15" wheels were standard on '88 and later IROC's(as did the LO3 305 TBI).Chevy did this when they reduced the model line in '88 to two. They were the same 15X7 5 spoke aluminum wheels that came on Z28's.They were also optional on Sport Coupes after '86 and standard on RS's(I think). The difference on the later cars was they were color keyed to the body and not just the GFX of the early cars(my '83 has gold GFX and gold wheels).

The 15" 5 spoke wheels were standard on '88 to '90 IROC's.I've seen pictures of the dual line 15" wheels (just the wheel) but I've never seen them on a car or pictured on a car.Does your car have the 15" double line wheels?Does anyone have a set of 15" double line wheels. As mw66nova stated 16" wheels were an upgrade on '88 to '90 IROC's.
Edit: The 15X7 I'm speaking of is the first picture along with a picture of a 15" dual line I found on Camarosource.

I'm running the 15" IROC-Z wheels on the rear in this picture HERE. Its not really a good picture to show how the wheel looks but you get the general idea. These 15" IROC-Z wheels were given to me by a friend (I still have the complete set of 4). They look exactly like the 16" wheels but they are 15x7.

I actually saw a 1990 IROC-Z L98 down here with the dual stripe 15" rims...
16's were an option, although i don't understand why someone would buy a fully loaded IROC-Z with 15's (presuming they haven't been swapped of course).

I bought and sold these from a member. 15x7 irocs. The only thing i found wierd about them, was they were not marked FRONT or REAR, they had all other numbers and castings on them, and appeared correct.

Because in the late eighties to early nineties, 16" wheels were not offered on many cars, therefore a good set of low profile 16" tires was fairly expensive.

I had to sets of the 15" IROC rims. It was hard to get rid of them. I was actually thinking about putting the 15's up front and the 16s on the back for the staggerd look. lol. Adam :-)
