Custom coolant and washer fluid locations

Ignore the "red bubble". The red bubble is a Summit resevoir tank that I was going to use for washer fluid until I got my coolant bottle mounted and saw it looks 100x better. The plan now is to get the same tank for the DS washer fluid resevoir.

That's pretty slick. It really cleaned the engine bay up real good.

For those of us that still use the TPI type injection, you will have to find a different location obviously.
With my application, I purchased an aftermarket coolant reservoir 3x8 (3inches in diameter, and 8inches long). It is a polished stainless steel container that you can mount on your frame near the idler arm, or many other places you decide to go with.

But I do have to agree that taking off that ugly original coolant tank definetly cleans up the engine bay!

No more center air intake. Only because I'm running a Procharger (missing in photo and mounting bracket). You could still use this approach if you were using a remote cold air intake I suppose. I don't know for sure because I've never done it. Anyways, I'll get rid of the "Red Bubble" and post another pic once I get the other resevoir mounted.
I wonder if I could ebay the red bubble to some ***** as a "Adds 30 HP" mod....hehehe

AC,
Where did you get the new square coolant bottle from? I've been lookin for something just like that. I didn't care for the round bottles either. Good work!

ACCLR8N, I got them locally. I have the part number and a phone number where you could order them from. Their 16.99 a piece. I have NO idea what they would go into for a year/make car if their even an OEM which I doubt. I'll post the info I have a little later today.

Still like to know where I can get a nice square OEM looking coolant bottle. Especially for $17.

...I did the same thing. I mounted mine in front of the radiator along the radiator support. Probably costs me a few square inches of airflow, but no cooling problems what so-ever. It's nice and polished, but ya can't see it!

Windshield washer? You must be joking! ....either that or you drive the car everyday!!!! No washer bottle here!

Almost forgot! AC- VERY nice work. Looks like it's factory!

Abucaca, thanks for the recognition. I opted to keep my washer fluid because in CT or New England for that matter you always get some sort of crap on your windshield. As far as driving everyday I have a 1991 with 43k original miles on it. I haven't driven my car in 3 years and in that year (2004) I only put 3200 miles on the odometer.....the odoemeter still only reads 43k miles

Wow thats very sleek. You think i could do the same thing on a firebird? Ive owned a couple camaros, this is my first bird, still trying to figure out why GM, put that metal thing there, and not use it as an airflow like the camaro.

I had to go back and look for the bottles, i didnt catch it the first time Very nice work.

The 'birds got a different air intake, due the the lower hood line. We have anout 1/2" of clearance, between the hood and the rad support.

It would still be interesting to cut the hole for the neck, and put that NAPA box under there.

awsome. i use that same bottle for my coolant, only due to the smaller radiator of my 2.8 i was able to keep it in the engine bay. but i like that much better. i think i might ahve to do that to BOTH of my thirdgens.

the only thing is for firebirds you would have to do some HEAVY modification to the latch plate of the bird and the lower intake plastic from the camaro to make them fit together. here is what i am reffering too: (ignore hackjob 4th gen washer bottle install)

Defenitly looks very good, factory even. Like on the 4th gens.

Another option for people using the TPI style intake is to use a washer/coolant overflow combo bottle out of many different mid-90's Fords.
It is compact, rectangular, and has a black top. I got one from a junkyard for $10 (from a 96 Explorer I think) and put it in the drivers side battery tray. Obviously I removed my vacuum cannister. You could barely even see it looking from the front of the car.

You got it from a 91-94 Ford Explorer. Also possibly a Mazda Navajo. Any of those will have the dual washer/coolant jug in them. I own a '93 thats how i know that

I have a spare in my garage but i decided not to use it because i just got rid of my whole washer system. Rarely used and my cars not a daily driver. For the coolant overflow im buying a small quart size overflow to mount somewhere else most likely in the front corner by the radiator.

Re: Custom coolant and washer fluid locations

I'm with Abubaca.....

It looks the best on the shelf...

, along with the factory heater, A/C, box, smog crap, Overflow huge tub, (I use a small catch). Battery (back), the pockets where the battery and the air cleaner WERE, the charcoal can, fuel lines.

I really want to get rid of the brake booster too, hot rod style

But I do like the way you guy's are thinking
