Wheel well trim
Wheel well trim
I've looked thru the many pics of repainted thrid generations and have notice that 100% of the pics I saw the owners have removed the wheel well trim. I wasn't going to remove mine, but aftwr looking at all the photos I reconsidered. It looks much sleeker without them.
Also, about 60% of all the pics had the door molding removed as well.
I'm restoring my 88 and she is at the painting stage. I'm doing the work myself and hope to have it completed by the end of April. Any ideas on how to safely removed the door molding and trim?

Yeah, I'd like to know what the hell they are talking about...Wait, every once in awhile I see some crappy chrome piece along the wheel wells of cars...is that what your talking about? Because I don't think any third gens came with those.

Re: Wheel well trim
Yes, the plastic molding that trims the edge of the wheel well. Mine pulled right off. It took laquer thinner and sanding to get the adhesive off though. I thought this was a factory piece. Looking at mine, I thought that it would be very dull after the rest of the car was painted. And then looking on the iroc gallery, I noticed not even one car with them on. So, I promtly removed mine. My door molding is no gone as well. I thise the removal of these two items will give the car a much cleaner/sleeker look once painted.
