KEYED!!!!!!!

well someone keyed my 92 bird with it's near perfect paint job (just to make my blood boil !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) well now it gets parked indoors at night, anyway I tried GM bright red touch up paint and no good a shade too dark. thankfully whoever keyed it did it in a fairly straight line so i was able to get a pinstriping kit from pepboys to cover it up. but i hate pinstiping anyone have suggestions or ideas on what i could try outside of going to the body shop and spending serious money?

Re: KEYED!!!!!!!

Yeah,

To not get your car keyed, you have to have it dirty, not date a single girl, and stay at home all the time.

You have to be an ambassador in order to not get any of your gf's or ex'es exercise their "power".

Than you get the jelous people, and there is really nothing you can do about it.

I would go and talk to maaco, or whoever did your paint job and see how much they would charge just to touch that up. Depending of how deep the cut is, it might just get covered up with some touch-up.

Good luck and I feel your pain.

If the car gets keyed, well - from that point on, you're on your own! lol

Re: KEYED!!!!!!!

I have 2 cameras now. My neighborhood has gotten realllll bad in the past 2 years...basically..when I moved where Im at nobody had any problems...now we have a new line of cops added to the force (I think around 15 rookies) we have shootings (never had one in my area for 25 years) gang fights in the parks, kids being beaten for shoes or cell phones, dogs being beaten, not to mention I and other neighbors have found bags of coke tied up with twist ties...LMAO. So noticeable....but yeah all I am saying is get some cameras....I have sent maybe 3 teenagers/adults (19-23yo) to jail for fights with weapons and drug sales.

P.S. Dont give out your name or have the cops in front of your house....my friend had an accident with a guy who's fault it was and had the cops come to his house....next week his car was set on fire...take it he lives off of FLEET in Cleveland. But still....a fire over a small accident that he was at fault for...but he wasnt caught or filmed so he sits 2 streets away from his house....he is trying to move because he is afriad someones gunna rob him at his house sometime. This all happened 1 week ago.

Re: KEYED!!!!!!!

It would depend on how deep it is. Your gonna have to sand it, lay down some epoxy primer, and touch up paint. If its really deep, you may need some filler, or sand down to metal. If its not that bad(which i doubt), you may be able to just buff it out and polish. Good luck.

sorry i didn't take any pics. i could pull off the pinstripe. but the pics might not show up that well with the touch up paint i put on... the deepest spot is about six inches long and dug in to where the paint began to come up in small flakes instead of a scratch. at least the pinstripe covers it up well. i'll try to get some pics up of the car up anyway she looks real good for a plain jane firebird.

Re: KEYED!!!!!!!

I would just rock the stripe if it covered it up and wait until the rest of the car needs painting. think about how bad it would suck if you painted the car and the same person keyed it agin.

i wonder how that pinstripe looks....pinstripes on these cars look pretty bad (IMO), even more so if they arent in the right spot. where did u have to put the pinstripe? on the 91+ cars, just about all that had pinstripes had them on the top of the fender - back

Re: KEYED!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your keying. When I bought my Iroc 13 years ago it had a real nasty key job on it. Front to back on the driver's side twice and three 'X's on the rear quarter panel. Fortunetly due to the galvanized metal on the car it never rusted during the next two years while i scraped up enough money to repaint the car.
Red it one of those colours that tends to show things, unlike white or silver, I think that if the keying is down to metal you might just have to repaint it. Unless your pinstripe works out for you.

Re: KEYED!!!!!!!

man it's rough having a nice car... where i live there are a lot of very die-hard ford people etc ricers. i've gotten my 6 month old $3000 paint job keyed down to the metal, and JUST recently someone poured an F-Load of sugar and stuff down into my gas tank resulting in me having to rebuild my engine and get a new fuel pump, purge my lines, scrub my tank..

it's nuts what people will do to a car just because it's not what they own or it's not what they like

i sure as hell know i dont have beef with anyone either, just a slew of totally random and unfortunate vandalism..

good luck with it man

wow thats interesting how the key marks were right in the correct spot for a pinstripe. that doesnt look too bad. thats a shame though, the paint looks really nice. i think the car looks better without the emblems IMO

Is the key job behind the light-colored stripe on the side of the car? If it is the car looks pretty good and the stripe looks very good as well.

Ever see Pulp Fiction? There's a line in that movie that describes exactly what should be done to those who mess with a mans automobile. If I was in your position, I would be going insane, but thats just me...

Re: KEYED!!!!!!!

That sucks. I had my 86 bird keyed one time. It had only been painted about a couple of months. Then the idiot had the nerve to brag to me about doing it. Needless to say the scratch on the side of my car didn't look as bad as the knots on his head when I got done. Luckly the guy who painted my car had some paint left over and resprayed the whole side for only $150.

like i said thank god the idiot who keyed it did so in a straight line and wasn't really putting much thought into it except to pull his key out of his pocket at waist height in a druken stooper and proceed to key my car ( ya i found out who it was.....i'm still trying to find out what he drives....payback's a bitch!!!!) however there is some lighter scratching that shows up beyond the width of the stripe but with the almost right color touch up paint i have you really have to look to see it.... as for the emblems i'm trying to bring it back to a factory look as much as possible and the emblems help to break up the look of the car from the side instead of the stripe standing out so much.....i'll try to put up some updated pics in a few days

That is quite the laser strobe pinstripe there. If you like it though, you just saved yourself a total repaint.
