Pics of 15" wheels on 3'gen

Hi

thinking of getting some 15" wheels for my bird.
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...5&Nao=10#rstop

Skinnies up front and some stickeys at the rear.

What offset and backspacing would I need so I can get some fat tires in at the rear and it shouldnt look to bad up front either.

please post pictureas and wheels/tire size.

thanx!

Mickey Thompson ET Drag wheels 15x8 out back with 4.5" backspacing, 15x3.5" up front, 1.75" backspacing, 275/60/15 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial tires out back, 26x7.5" Mickey Thompson Sportsman front runners. i think there's only 3 of us on this board with these wheels, and you just got two of them back to back, lol!

15x8 is skinny with the 26x10.50 tire. you can fit the wider 11.50" tire on it. i've done it before. it would work well with a 10 inch rim too tho.

ah, the front drag wheels usually have very little offset, I believe mine had either zero and 20mm avaliable, I went with the 20 to give a little caliper clearence. the back rims did not have offset choices from what I remember. I think the backspace on the front was 1.5

Obviously vehicles that run skinnies usually are more drag orientated. So no quick turns, sudden braking, etc and they're fine. I run manual steering so it definitely helps in that regard.

Re: Pics of 15" wheels on 3'gen

yeah i got a radial front tire, a 165/80/15 but it could use stiffer sidewall, ie more ply. Its rated to i believe 1200lbs each tire. I'm probly closer to 1000lbs each front.

The drive isnt bad, i keep the shocks setup somewhat stiffer up front and it drives fine. still have the big sway bar on. you can tell your on skinnies, and cant take turns that hard, but other than that, it feels fine

So basically, you've got to get high profile tires right?

60 or 70 series heights?

to keep a stock sized 25.7 inch outside diameter, smaller rims need bigger sidewalls

Re: Pics of 15" wheels on 3'gen

the factory 15x7 wheels have "zero" offset, which means the mounting flange is exactly in the middle of the wheel, thus having 3.5" of backspacing. i would use that for the backspacing on your 15x7's. the 15x10's with a 5.5" backspacing will fit easiest without too many inner fender mods though i will suggest rolling the fenders. this back spacing will put the sidewall bulge even with the fender lip. i'm rnning a 6.5" backspacing and the tire is completely under the car now, but you have to cut the bump stop area and beat the ever living crap out of the inner fender to get it to clear.

Re: Pics of 15" wheels on 3'gen

Will use 4'th gen rear so 15x10 with 7,5" BS is on the way.

My stock 8" GTA rims in front have 4,75 BS...I think..
takin 15x7" with 3,5" BS will make them slightly further out that my stock ones, correct?

Will think about it... its easier to put a spacer on if I want to move the wheel further out than the other way around

You sure about that? I thought wheel width (x7) was the distance between where the bead sits. So bead to bead is 7", overall width, face to face, is closer to 8". Backspacing is from mounting surface to face, so on a 7" wheel 0 offset has a bs of ~4".
