Ram Air II hood on 91-92 Firebird: part 2

Any updates? I've been searching the web for over 3 months and still haven't found a picture. I'm beginning to think it doesn't exist, lol. One thing I can't stress enough, NOT A FORMULA! Something with gfx; either the T/A or the base Firebird with the aero package. I've seen the hood on 90 and lower Firebirds and GTAs and think they look great. If I never see what the Ram Air II hood looks like on the 91 or 92 models I'll have to go with the regular Ram Air hood from ASCD. (Cause I know they look kick ***) Thanks.

Nope. I've seen that done before. That's the Ram Air hood by ASCD. Nice try.

Hey,
I sold a few of my hoods to the 91-92 guys. I will email them and try to get a pic to show you. I think it will look good with the way that nose pc comes down. I myself like the 91-92 nose better then the early ones.

Thanks gt auto. To me, I remember seeing one out there with the hood and gfx and it looked good but that was a long time ago. If you can ever get your hands on a pic please post or email soulbounder@yahoo.com I love the nose too, that's why I chose a 91'

Yes, you could get the hood like that for the camaro if that's what you like. 72, I saw that pic on the other post. Do you happen to remember who it was that had the hood on a 91 or 92? Thanks

well thats becuase i have not fastand the hood yet its just sitting there, becuase the fenders and front nose are just on by a few bolts and need adjusting to, i had a formula got the trans effects, the hood is actually not even sitting all the way down as you can see from the pic just showing what it looks like on the car

72Buick...

I just was curious....did you buy that hood, or make it? I like it...i've looked at a couple RA hoods made out of fiberglass by different companies...yours looks like metal....if you fabricated that, how'd you do it?

ummm i know its a formula , i just got the effects to put on it, not trying to make it a transam wouldnt want a trans, the formulas are a lighter car with same preformace, and to be exact you see less formula350 cars then you do transams, and when i finish with the car i will put formual350 back on the door,

Ok i saw the RAM AIR II HOOD at www.usbody.com

But there are 2 types available:

1. Light weight
2. Heavy duty techhood

Which is better - or what are the pros and cons of each style??? Are they reliable for a long time (10-20 years) - or are there gonna be small cracks forming here and there???

And finally if i were to take it to a body shop (to make an opening - cause i know ill mess it up - and all the installation procedures) and then to a paint shop - how much $'s are we talking about??? And would the paint shop be able to match it to the teal color on my car (which is in good condition - pic can be seen in member profiles) - or would i need to have the whole car rebuffed or something???

If anyone who has got one - or anyone with info plz let me know!!!

Cause the hood costs $589 - and i dont wanna purchase something blindly???

Kinda sad that people are in such a hurry to mod their cars after a current trend. Trendy aftermarket appearance parts ALWAYS get a dated look. Case in point, look at anything Erebuni sells, or any of the ASCD parts for thirdgens. The only hood that comes close to looking good is the ASCD firebird ram air hood, and only then because its a clone of a factory hood. The RAII hood is modelled after an ugly car... Whats worse, on a thirdgen it doesn't even match the body lines... Put an ugly clashy part on a worn out thirdgen, and think its the greatest thing ever? not my idea.

The camaro hood will be ready to sell in about 3-4 weeks. It will look like the ram air II hood.

Drew, I totally understand what you are saying. I really really really like the way the stock hood on my 91 Firebird looks. That's why I requested a picture of usbody's RAII hood on a 91 or 92 bird with gfx. I'm afraid that it might look out of place but then again, the nose piece is flat and smooth so I dunno. If the hood ever comes it will not be for a long long time, lol.

Some people really need to get a life...but I won't mention any names.

GT Auto Hood looks PHAT on my worn out(LMMFAO) Turdgen. Nothing but positive comments this weekend at the CarCraft Nationals in the Twin Cities.

not sure if I like it on the 91-92, I really like it on the 85-90 cause the nostrils line up perfectly with the raised part between the headlight areas.

ram air 2 hood

oh man!! cmon, the hood don't look don't look that bad on a 85-90 model... to me, it wouldn't go good with a stock firebird or camaro, but with rims, etc it will look like a sleeper.... don't get me wrong, stock 3rd gens look great, but some want more....

ram air II hood

it would be off on all birds. i had a ram air II hood and gt auto told me(after weeks of trying to fix the problem) that his mold was 7/16 of an inch off. that was too much for me so i sent mine back.(and somehow all of the pics with the hood on my t/a were deleted so i cant even help out with the pics.

I like..

I like the Ram Air 2 hoods on all the birds, Gives it a more Agressive look. If my next car is a bird, that hood is going on.
