air induction on a formula hood

Hi, I have a power buldge hood on my formula and I was wondering if there was any type of aftermarket piece that I could put on that runs to my air cleaner. Show me pics please. Does anyone know where to find these. Any suggestions or websites would help.

'82-'84 TAs came w/ that hood also, and it WAS functional. KZad's put the unit on his '88 Formula, it was a snap... he noticed a slight increase in throttle response and it "felt" more powerful. It's kinda like adding a K&N as opposed to a regular filter.

The 'unit' is just a plastic box that attaches to the power bulge, and a new top for your air cleaner. It does exaactly what you're looking for.

I can get picks soon if you like. Please feel free to ask more Qs

Finding the HO aircleaner assembly from a 83-84 Trans Am would be just about impossible. With the number of people that remove the aircleaners to replace them with chrome, the small numbers of HO cars to begin with, etc there just aren't that many around.

Cross fire injected cars used the bulge hoods for air inlet too. I picked up the duct that bolts to the hood thinking I might adapt it to my Formula but its not somethign I'm interested in doing anymore. I've got it listed in the classifieds now.

Is there any way I can make one. Could I make one out of sheetmetal or some thing like that. Does anyone have dimensions. Right now I have a 14" x 2 1/2" chrome air cleaner. A mechanic said that they make a piece that bolts on and is really easy to install. I haven't seen anything like it yet.

I have a funtional hood on my T/A. which is basically plastic box idea that lines up with a hole in air cleaner lid, with a solenoid in the box I believe, because there are wires running from it, I had thought of scraping this idea and copying a 81Z28 cowl induction butterfly idea, so you could actually see the butterflies open like on the Z, then all I'd have to do is fab some kind of metal box idea to take the air directly to a open air cleaner. Just something for you boys with the formys to think about (If you've ever ridden in a 81Z28 and see the butterflies open and rpms go up you'd know why i want to do this setup.)
