'87 Formula Wheel clear coat HELP.
Hello, I am wondering if anyone can help me. I took my stock wheels out of my shed, they have been there for 1 1/2 year's. and I noticed the clear coat is turned a little yellow, and looks like it may be starting to lift from the wheel's, or stained. Do anyone know of a way to fix it without getting the wheels refinished?
Thank's forhand..
Glen.

Aggreed with 1atony order a polishing kit and strip the clear coat off. If you don't want to take it all the way to a polished look, you can strip the clear coat and re clear them or have them sprayed by someone.
Aircraft aluminium striper works great on the wheels, autozone carries it.
I've had good luck with the dupli color spray paints for wheels. Just let it cure a while before you drive it or the brake dust will eat into the paint.
I would bet that the clear is yellowed all the way through. I just ordered a set of formula wheels that I will re-finish when i get them. Although the main reason I ordered them is to have some roller wheels/tires while I fix a few spots on the TA wheels I have on it that I didn't like the way it turned out. They also had some brake dust on them when I stored the car a couple years ago as well as the random things that got on them and well I want them back to a mirror finish.

It will strip all paint so if you get it on it it will remove it. I usually buy the gallon stuff not the spray can and brush it on.
I would strip the entire wheel and polish. Then tape it off where you don't want paint and repaint it. I've used wheel paint in the spay cans and it works well and last 4-5 years before it dulls.
This is the kit I've used for polishing.

Have you tried the por 15? it looks interesting. I may have to give that a try. I like the polished wheels but clear coated is easier to maintain.
