WARNING!!

DON'T MIX CASTROL SUPER HEAVY DUTY TOUGH TASK DEGREASER AND SIMPLE CLEAN. THE TWO ARE NOT A GOOD COMBO WHEN CLEANING YOUR ENGINE.

I WAS SPRAYING THE THING DOWN GOOD AND NEXT THING I KNOW ALL THE PAINT IS COMING OFF MY AIR FLITER AND THE ENGINE AND ALL THE CHROME OR ALIMUNIUM IS TURING WHITE AND THE HOSES GOT FUNKY WHITE **** ON THEM, TRIED WHIPING EVERYTHING OFF AND HOSING IT OFF AND THEN THE PAINT CAME OFF MORE AND THE HOSES STARTED MELTING.

JESUS H THIS IS NOT GOOD. HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE?? MAYBE I USED TOO MUCH??

sounds like a delemna. You might want to start by removing caps lock on your computer anyway, that castrol stuff will peel paint away by itself when its not diluted. Your supposed to dilute it when working on painted surfaces. And it's never a good idea to mix chemicals. Some of the products of mixing certain chemical can be highly hazardous to your health.

Sorry, i can't really think of anything to really help you here, but at least you'll never do that again...

next time read the bottle. Castrol superclean, etc eat aluminum, rubber, plastic etc...

It didn't have anything to do with the mixing of chemicals.

Yep, I found out myself that Castrol is strong stuff. I thought it would be equivalent to Simple Green. Nope. Fortunately I was using it under the car when swapping in the T5 so what it did doesn't show.

well sounds like you learned a good lesson on do not mix chemicals and read the directions/instructions first... sorry for the mess you made though. I use simple green all the time to stip down dirty engine blocks.. stuff works great when the block is left overnight and the next mourning take it outta the 55 gal drum then nothing but clean metal leftover. ready for prep and paint.

Looks like un4givin89 has found a new solution for those of you who want to strip your painted rims down to the bare metal.
Buy the gallon size Castrol apply heavily to the rims and hose off!
No scraping, sandpaper, and countless hours spent.

Hmmm.....
Anyone willing to give it a try?
Or ya think it would pit the rim??

sunbitz,
actually theres no pitting at all. i have been using the pure concentrate on my rims for about the past 2 months. theres almost no paint left on them, but theres no pitting either. (if anyones wondering why i did this, it's cause im either gonna polish them, or ditch them here in the fall.)

If you got this stff on your hoses(rubber) I would replace them or atleast keep an eye on them .Some chemicals can break down the rubber and your radiator hoses could burst when they build pressure.Just a thougt

Unless you're degreasing a John Deere tractor Castrol Superclean is the most god-awful product on the planet. Don't even come within 10 feet of your car with this product. Under the hood and including the wheels there is just too much aluminum to mess up.

I agree the "fine" print suggests caution but it should be printed in bold letters. Castrol gives the impression that it is a good degreaser and what gets the "greasiest" on our cars......... the engine.
