Your car is so badass. Why do you do the air suspension? Also are those wheels considered racing wheels?

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
^^^ What they said. Honestly guys, I respect anyones car if they're willing to put time and effort into it.....but this thread is looking for magazine quality cars and a lot of the ones people are posting are far from it. GMHTP is looking for cars that have extensive modding work done to them such as LSx swaps, superchargers on aftermarket FI set ups, suspension goodies, rims.....basically all out built street cars/race cars. I can't remember the last time I looked through a GMHTP mag and saw a bone stock third gen.
No offense to anyone, but there are plenty of other threads on thirdgen.org to show off your cars. Those would be much better suited to your "average" driver car.

^Exactly.
No beaters, no stockers, and if it has a carb, you don't need to post either.
Let's show 'em stuff they want to see, the best.

If your car:
--Has less than show-quality paint
--Has less than show-quality interior
--Has less than a beautifully finished engine bay
--Has crappy *** wheels hanging three inches outside of the fenders
--Has dingy lights
--Has a motor thrown between the fenders with an otherwise stock drivetrain
--has a poor stance/no suspension work
Then you will NOT get in. Magazines publish high dollar build, complete show cars, not cars with $50 wheels hanging out of the fenders, etc.

I have less than show quality interior. Hell, my replacement carpet kit turned green.
My engine bay is a horrible rats nest of wires.
Well, my wheels are even with the fenders. However, they seem to be a popular choice nowadays.

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
But unlike a lot of other cars being posted, yours DOES have an LSx under the hood, and it DOES have big brakes and nice wheels, and it looks good in pics, whether the paints not that great or not, lol. I can def see why yours was picked being a modded convert, as well as bluezee28's car. You just typically don't see converts that are that bad azz!
I guess since it has a LS under the hood means it is fast?
lol Oh and congrats to Jim85Iroc for his car getting in there also!

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
I agree totally. I have about as much money into my 355 as it would be to swap a stock LS motor into a car (the right way, no hacked harnesses and stuff) to go mid 11's. The only downfall is that I get 20mpg on the highway vs 25-30 for the LS.

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
The most mpg I ever got with my SBC 89formy 350 when it was (what i call)semi stock is 27 highway and 20ish intown.
It had SLP kit, trickflow heads, big base, shift kit, converter and I think 3.27gears.
If I would have had a 6speed then im bettn it would have gone 30mpg..

Is that 04 a multidisplacmment engine? I am actually watching about this right now on extreme 4x4. variable timing and shutting down cylinders. 500 hp with close to 30 MPG

No. The L99 is (VVT LS3 basically) The LS1 is all 8 all the time. Where the good gas mileage comes into play is cause of the 6th gear (.5) so at 80 the engine is spinning at 2k

I even recently noticed that uncounsciously I compare all late thirdgen birds to yours to determine whether or not I like them (I´m still kind of uncertain on whether or not I generally like the banshee nose or if it´s just in combination with the C6 rims and paintjob on yours)

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
few more... everything is dusty from the body shop. car was wet sanded and compounded. i just need to wait a few weeks and will clean it up and wax it real nice. Strut towers are to be painted after alignment is done. things were done a little out of order here so i couldnt paint the strut towers are the same time as the engine bay.

If they wanted humor and destruction I should have told the deer crapping in my backseat/kicking me in the head incident! And you have a car that looks stunning in pictures nonethelss, having me look twice every time to make sure I´m really looking at a vehicle produced in the early 90´s rather then 10 years later as the bodylines and overall appearance suggests.
I even recently noticed that uncounsciously I compare all late thirdgen birds to yours to determine whether or not I like them (I´m still kind of uncertain on whether or not I generally like the banshee nose or if it´s just in combination with the C6 rims and paintjob on yours)

I've dabbled in the idea of swapping out the side ground effects and rear bumper for the 85-90 style but there's just something about the 91-92 stuff that I kind of like. It's definitely grown on me. Same with the c6 wheels. I got them because they were cheap, dark and fit my brakes (the real reason I do most of my modding, brakes!
). They're kind of bland for me but oh well. I really lust after some CCWs or even some *gasp* Volk wheels. Supreme Member

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
There is no information to be had on that. If they like your car, they will PM you and go from there. There are a few guys that have had their cars in the readers rides portion. If you look through some of the earlier posts you'll find the pix. I think this is just a quick easy place to come find the cream of the crop on this site when they are looking for thirdgen coverage. There really have been some beautiful machines posted in here.

Here is my 1987 Trans Am Italia...back home after working on it for a year, completely gutted the interior and replaced it, engine is a stk V8 5.7 chipped and has a RAM kit installed. I dont have may clean shots as this is less than a week at home.

If you want to post pics of your car, feel free to in the Members Rides section. If you truly believe your car is an awesome representation of Thirdgens and should be on the cover of Gm High Tech Performance, post here. This is not the place to post projects, it's almost readys, or it needs to be washed.

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
Thanks. I just saw yesterday that I got in... Page 34 of the newest issue

I believe once the car is finished this time(minus the 100 stickers) this summer, it will be EVEN better!
I have not seen it online. Can someone scan it in for me? I'd be VERY appreciative. The only picture I took did not come out too clear!

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
Justin my car is near completion in the next couple of weeks. I hope its enough time to get high quality photos in... I am certain my build will be of interest!
i Attached are couple photos leaving the body shop earlier somewhere. I now have the new rims and am in the process of getting tires on so that will complete the exterior and i'll get good photos then.

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
Wish mine was closer to being finished
It will have a 5.3 LSx with a T76 turbonetics turbo on it, T56 transmission, aluminum driveshaft, and the 10 bolt rear has recently been swapped for a Dana 44. I've owned it for a little over 8 years and decided to do a full resto on it.
Heres a few shots of how it currently sits....

And an older pic to show the paint in the sunlight. I'm hoping for it to be finished around June-July.

Re: GM HIGH TECH is looking for YOU!!
Took some NEW pictures of my 1991 FORMULA. I just found an awesome area with a great background for these shots. Hope you enjoy, as a lot of people are starting to enjoy this style of 3rd Gens!

25-30 for an LS?
