Currently the car is apart again for the new engine install and finishing up the engine bay paint work. New engine will be:

Arkansas Polishing TPI intake
Megasquirt II 3.0
Precision Turbo 65 lb/hr injectors
MSD-6AL
700R4 with Pro-Built Automatics Pro-Street build kit
Vigilante 2800 converter
Precision Turbo 60 to 67mm single turbo (replacing current 60mm ebay turbo)

My 1991 Formula 350 of which only 1,197 were built. Lots of bolt on items are from SLP/ Edlebrock/ Hotchkis/ Alston/ Hypertech and Borla.

 

Mine unfortunatly won't be done till middle of the winter but heres an updated engine pic. Almost done, just need the cold side piping/intercooler and the engine harness.

Blowers make everything better

As cool as that is it must be very hard to change plugs

 

Have to pull the blower, so an extra 30-45 mins. Still a fraction of what youd spend on a SBC plug change in a 3rd gen

 

Is it because of the plug location on a gen1 sbc?

 

Yeah changing plugs on an LS is so easy, no headers obscuring the plug.

Blowers do make everything better, and an intercooler to make changing plugs even easier ahum. Working on this is a PITA, everything goes together so tight, it's literally millimeters between components.

 

I here ya there, and i do not even have an intercooler yet.





BOV goes on tommorow and that will pretty much obscure the last square 6 inches above the water pump. Love to do an intercooler like what you have.

 

What kind of wheels are those, are they off of an S-10 pick-up? What size?

 

How is that blower off to the side like that, doesnt it go in place of the intake manifold?, but I see your intake, it is blowing my mind!!!!
That set up is wierd, that is photoshopped right?

 

Pocket can chime in, but the eaton style blowers like that are self contained, meaning they don't necesarily have to be in place of the intake manifold. He made a custom bracket setup that holds the blower and has an intake duct under it which runs into a front mount intercooler and then into the engine. Def a cool setup and probably one of the only times you'll see one mounted like that lol. Thats some fab skills!

I redesigned how it fits, so it becomes a remote mounted unit. I have a build thread in the LTx/LSx forum going into detail how I did it, and the last setup. Same design, smaller blower, smaller engine

How much power are you expecting to see out of that 5.3 w/ the LS6 intake and cam with the T76 ? HP and RWHP

You've guys with Firebirds did fantastic work....on RUST FREE cars, but my trans needs a medic, exhaust had done broke, the tie rods and gaskets all have issues, and that's just the mechanics, but back in 1998!!??
