How to secure a car cover in windy conditions (magruver style).
Car covers stay on in windy conditions, if you inventive. Here's what to do, Get some bungie rope, wrap it around the sides of the car, over the winsheild (make sure to tuck it under the mirrors), and around the other side. Take both ends of the rope and tie them behind and underneath the rear spoiler (make sure it's tight!) it'll hold up to some strong winds. Bungie cording the sides of the cover to eachother so that they pull at one another from under neath the car is another way. Do this at the front and rear wheels. This combinded techneque will prvent it from flying away. it really helps if you do the bungie rope tie down as well as the lower bungi chord tie down, the bungie rope keeps the cover from ballooning up when High winds come, and there for releaves stress on the lower bungie ties.
P.S use two bungies hooked together for the front, and three in the back. I'll post picks later.

I really didn't give a crap about correctly spelling a fake name. I used magruber out of respect for Macgyver, who would never bother with finding a new way to secure a car cover. He's to busy turning coffins into portable jet skies.

What is it with all the car cover threads for cars that sit outside all of a sudden?
Don't do it, it wrecks the paint no matter what you think.

You ever been to Texas my friend? let me tell you, the here sun is not like the sun that is is Japan. I lived in Seattle for 13 years. I didn't think much about the sun or what it could do, cause it's not very harmfull up there. Here in Texas, it's a defferent story. Sun will ruin paint, skin, it will kill people, and it will ruin you car. But car covers really aren't the best thing for your car if you live in a cool, damp, rainy temprate climate. better to go uncovered.

Texas sand? I have never heard of it. Also the car actually isn't that dirty. Despite constant convering and uncovering. No scratches.

Well, live and learn...you should really listen to what people say though. You'll find out the hard way that car covers do more harm than good.

I'm not saying that car covers dont lock in moister, or scratch the paint because of trapped dirt. That is an irrefutable fact. But you have to weigh your pros and cons carefully. My car recieves alot of sun during the summer. That alone is way more damaging than the dirt and moisture combined. And I dont know if you have been watching the news recently, but Texas experiancing a record setting drought and record setting heat. Meaning no moister, no clouds, no shade, and lots of sun.

Well, like I said, just regular washing and waxing with a good UV sealant will prevent any oxidation...unfortunately though washing/waxing is too much work for a lot of people.

Anyone who doesnt love washing their car, doesn't love their car.

^^^True, but I see you made no mention of waxing, which is the important step in protecting a paintjob for 20 years.
