post Firebird minus rear spoiler/green firebird pics!
I'm going to be getting my 1989 Trans Am (minus ground effects) painted on the third of January, and it doesn't have a spoiler. I'm wondering if I should consider buying one and put it on around the same time I paint it, or just forget it and leave it without one. It's going to be Pop Green Metallic, like on some 2012 nissan xterras, but I just want to get an idea of what it will look like, when complete (and all one color) without a spoiler. Also, not the wrap around ones. If I had $400 to spend, sure, but I just don't. Also if you have a green firebird it would be nice to see! You don't see too many green third gens, or at least I don't.

I had a wrap-around spoiler. I find spoilers DISGUSTING so it's gone and buddy's body shop is filling the holes and paint. When It's out I'll show you.

Alright, thanks. I don't have a spoiler on mine either, but I bought it that way and wasn't sure if I wanted to change it up or leave it. Also I wanted to get an idea of how the car would look when finished, because right now mine has a red front bumper, a light blue rear, and the car is dark blue haha. It won't look like a beater for much longer, but I'd still like to see how it could look.

Yes, like that. I have decided against the spoiler at this point, but can't 100% commit to any color. Either the pop green, or green tea metallic as seen on honda CRVs, or BMW urban green, or jeep green metallic. something dark-ish, but still green.

Re: post Firebird minus rear spoiler/green firebird pics!
My car is currently being prepped/painted, and I'm told to expect up to 3 weeks for its completion. This is a picture about two weeks prior to me bringing it to the guy painting it. I chose Jeep Green Metallic (color code PGJ) for the color, and I'll post some pictures when I get it back. Please forgive my driving around in a blue car with red lipstick and adding to the already beater stereotype third gens have
I do plan to lower the car, maybe change out wheels, and definitely work on performance upgrades as soon as the paint is done.

They look so plain without a spoiler. There is a reason that only the absolute base model versions were the only ones to come without

I disagree, but it is a general preference to have one, I know that much at least. I might change my mind in the future, who knows.

Re: post Firebird minus rear spoiler/green firebird pics!
Here is a picture of mine without the spoiler. I bought it that way as well, and i like it. Ive been looking over tons of firebird pics deciding if i like it more with or without the spoiler. Im still leaning towards without...

Here is a pic of a special edition i found somewhere on these forums. The spoiler is different. I cant decide if i like it more than the regular, but i saved the pic so i could maybe photoshop a spoiler like that onto my car and see how it looks.

Re: post Firebird minus rear spoiler/green firebird pics!
See a lot of the time I agree with you there, but Bens car looks perfect, I can't imagine a spoiler making it look anything but worse. I get my car back from paint today (hopefully) so I'll finally be inclined to show it off, rather than be ashamed of the way it looks
Not sure how I feel about the appearance of that '88 bird, I took the GFX off my car so i COULD see the tires sticking out and the curve of the body towards the ground, and that spoiler seems like an attempt to transfer 2nd gen to 3rd haha, I'm not too fond of it.

Just got back from paint! It looks almost black in this picture, but it is a metallic green. In the light you can really see the green, and the black on the two side vents and hood vents. I'll post some more pictures on a sunny day!

Got impatient and took a picture with some light on it to show the color better.

Wow, yeah that first pic doesn't show off the color at all. I really like that green.

Alright, last picture probably, I decided to paint my wheels like the GTA wheels, and I think the car looks a hell of a lot better now, so I'm finally content. Tell me what you think.

The pre paint job blue! Are you going to paint your hood and fender inserts green to match? (leave the screen black in em but paint the rest?)

Re: post Firebird minus rear spoiler/green firebird pics!
I liked it too, but it was fading way too much so I decided to go in another direction and pick the color I liked more haha. It looked good with the silver ground effects too, but I definitely prefer it this way, I can honestly say I'm 100% satisfied with the appearance of my trans am....firebird...thing. And no, I'm leaving them black, it sort of goes with the wheels in my opinion!
