GTA hood on a Formula, thoughts?

Picking up a GTA hood for $50, and I'm wondering how you guys think it'll look on my Formula. I've never seen anyone do this before, but hey, it might look pretty good. It's got a few dings in it, but it's a different color so I'll need to re-paint it anyway.

If all else fails and it looks bad, I can paint it, sell it, and profit

Re: GTA hood on a Formula, thoughts?

I did it on my 87 formula back in 07. i traded hoods for a day with my friends gta. I did not like it much. Just did not look right to me.. But i love the formula hood for sure. my favorite hood.

Re: GTA hood on a Formula, thoughts?

I wish the bulge was symmetrical, that's my only complaint. It bugs the hell out of me that it angles to the driver side lol.

Re: GTA hood on a Formula, thoughts?

It will look like that weird V6 Firebird that came as a base model with a GTA hood... Forget what it's called, but I am not too big of a fan.

I personally like the fact that the hood isn't symmetrical.

Re: GTA hood on a Formula, thoughts?

I'll see how it goes, I can probably pick it up as early as 6/9 or 6/10. Like I said, if all else fails, I'm sure I can turn around and sell it and make some decent profit.

Re: GTA hood on a Formula, thoughts?

Nobody will even notice since it was available on TAs too, not just GTAa.

As for a symmetrical Power Bulge hood? You can buy one aftermarket but I forget who makes it.

ram air is a no go on a rd gen, I have yet to see a car where it looks good. It's made for a 4th and looks completely out of place on a 3rd

Keep the Formula hood, I think it is the best looking hood for Firebirds. I wish mine had a powerbulge.

Would look 100x better if it had the original hood.

I agree on the Ram Air II, I just don't like it. But I have seen several cars with the Ram Air I that looks real nice.

Re: GTA hood on a Formula, thoughts?

I bought a 1988 Trans Am GTA over the weekend for parts and it has a new 4th gen WS.6 style Ram Air hood on it that I don't care for. If anyone wants it, keep an eye out for it in the classifieds forum when I get ready to part this car out in a month or two.

Actually, I was considering hacking up the GTA hood to make it a custom cowl hood. There have been a few threads on here where people have done similar things, and I really like it. I'll see if I can find them.

And here it is. I'm considering doing something similar to this, but I'm not sure I like the openings in the middle too much. I might just do like that and have a basic cowl hood.

WIP! lol.

Re: GTA hood on a Formula, thoughts?

Keep the Power Buldge hood. Get the open screen from the 1982-1983 H.O. and take out the solid plate. Adds a nice touch and looks good from the drivers side view.
