Had a spare set of Z28 wheels and figured I would make them look a little better, look pretty good for having only spent a couple bucks on materials

 

they were pretty messed up thanks to sitting for over 5 years

thanks, I've still got two more to go, but its pouring here today, and I dont feel like removing the epoxy off our garage floor so I'll just have to wait for the weather to clear up

Looks good man. I have never been a huge fan of the 15" Z/RS wheels, but the black ones that came on some of the black RS cars I did like-you pulled off that look perfect.

 

I have a spare set I've been trying to come up with an idea for. They are pretty ugly at the moment and looks like the guy I pick them up from (don't worry, I didn't pay for them) spent more time trying to grind the curb than actually driving. I might have to give this a shot use to see how they turn out.

Did you just use regular black paint? Plasti-Dip?

 

Yeah Im in the same boat, not really a fan of this style, but I always thought this would look good, and when I bought my 86, it came with these so I figured why not give it a shot

 

I removed the clear coat they come with, then sanded off the machining lines with 400 grit, then 600 followed by 800 and finally 1500, then polished them and the paint was just black gloss rattle can paint, im thinking about clearing them over to keep them low maintenance

 

thanks, I thought you guys might like these, on the other ones I really need to take my time polishing, the wheel shown was like a 5-10 min hand polish just to see how it would look
