October COTM **WINNER**

Wow guys this was a race to win on this months COTM! Every one of these cars were amazing, but I'm happy to announce that mw66nova has won!!!

Not only did he win this month, but he is also the first member to win COTM twice (Members can only win once a year), so a little extra honor for this win.

If you have been on the boards very long you have probably taken advice from Matt (mw66nova), or had some kind of positive interaction. His car has come so far from what it first was. Multiple major changes, such as going 305 to LSX, from auto to T56, 3rd gen to 4th gen dash, and many more changes. I'm happy for all the nominees, and very happy that the winner is such an active positive member on the boards! Keep up the good work man!

Re: October COTM **WINNER**

thank guys! I'm very humbled at even having the opportunity to be nominated again. thanks for the votes and support everyone.

i'm still tweaking on this thing. about to do a gear change and get some rear double adjustable shocks, as well as coil overs up front. hoping these changes will put the car solidly in the bottom 1.4x 60' range, which should yield some 10.6x passes i think. then a more appropriate sized carb and i'm crossing my fingers for 130 mph trap speeds on motor, on pump gas.

I'm really digging what you did with a Sport Coupe body. Wish more people would see the potential of them.

And on anther note it looks like I'm not the only one to use the 86 Sport Coupe screen name. If I knew about that earlier I would have chose something else!

They are completely underrated. I'm trying to part out a V6 Sport Coupe and some body parts off a '91 RS. Most people call me wanting the RS stuff and so far I have only ran across 2 people that wanted some of the Sport Coupe stuff. I guess people like the bodykits that the I-ROC and Z-28 cars have!

i haven't paid for a paint job in years. my buddy does it for cost of material and i help where i can. (normally going to grab sand paper or something else while he works). it's a mutual thing though. i do drivetrain work on his cars all the time and he holds flashlights or wrenches for me.

i don't like the "how difficult was that" question much. it implies so many things. i'm not sure what you're asking. the dash wasn't heavy so moving it around wasn't hard. the bolts turn just as easily the next.

if you're asking, "was there any fab work involved?", the answer is yes, but not much. it's surprisingly "bolt-in". i didn't try to make any of the HVAC stuff or factory gauges work though, so my swap wasn't that involved.

If you don't mind me asking, what wheels are those? I am very particular in the wheel area and I really like those! Especially the ones in black and chrome. Are they the same as the polished ones you posted?

That's a really nice stance by the way! Congratz on the win!

Yeah I was asking where to start as in taking The entire car apart to paint it properly. Since the body is tied into the frame I was asking is it difficult to pull the car completely apart.

Thanks! they are billet specialties that i painted a couple of years ago. the polished ones in the updated picture are the same wheels, i just stripped the paint back off and polished them back up. i'm kinda over the black wheel fad, lol. i found out about plastidip literally the day after i painted those wheels....

"body tied into frame"...that's a bit of a misnomer. the body and frame are unitized, as in "uni-body". taking the car apart is not hard. nuts and bolts, clips and fasteners pretty much. i recommend bagging and labeling everything as you come apart and it will go smoother for you putting it back together. it also helps to have a pretty decent sized storage area with shelving or bins, etc to keep everything straight. we are going through an 87 gta right now for my cousin, building it into a budget bracket car. it's coming along really well, but the area we are using to work in has basically none of those requirements and it's been a real booger-bear as we begin reassembly. luckily with that car, since it's a racecar, most of what we took out is going away anway, so it's not as crucial.
