So I decided to post here cuz it seems appropriate since its the appearance section anyways does any body else gets complements on their cars regardless of how they looki mean mine its not even painted I have a different color from bumper n I'm always getting stopped by people to say something about my car like just now when I got back from dropping off my daughter at school some guy at the apartments just stopped me to tell me that his son told him he really likes my car that every time they go by it makes him smile or a couple days ago some other guy said he reallly "digs my wheels" and things like that share the complements you have received

 

The best compliment I ever received was watching a guy drive into a row of traffic cones at 30mph while he had his head turned staring at my car from the side of an intersection.

 

I typically get "the nod" from every man 30 and older when I drive by, and I'm still in primer, haha.

 

Yep, I get compliments and plenty of looks. Not too many third-gens in the Austin area that are in good shape.

The exhaust initially get's their attention. But, ever since I've put on the 18" wheels....people slow down on the freeway to take a look a look at it. I even had a officer pull me over on the side of the freeway, to compliment the car and ask me what size tires I was running!

Again, prob b/c it's just rare to see these cars fixed up...especially the Firebirds.

 

I get more complements in my beat up Sport Coupe with bad paint and crappy flow master, than I do in my almost show quality Iroc or decent TA. Maybe they notice the SC more because its loud not sure but surprising more girls than guys like my SC. All ways thought it was odd.

 

small children are always telling me how much they like my car ... and most of them call it a race car ... lol

 

Thats so weird I thought it was just mine even my wife would see me talking to random ppl and b like "what they said they like ur car?! " ill just smile

 

I get a compliment or question every time I go somewhere in my 88' Formula lol. Most people don't believe its mine cause im only 17 but they get over it haha. Most ask what year it is and tell me how nice it is. Of course I get tons of looks and rubber necks. I also get the occasional is it for sale? haha Most of the time people tell me how they wanted one when they were younger.

 

Yeap I even had ppl ask what is it they dont even know what it is but they like it hell at work they call me Camaro Joe cuz they didnt kno my name but they all know what I drive lol

 

I get the "I've never seen a car like that.. What is it?" All the time. I can't go any where without somebody wanting to talk about it. My wife just rolls her eyes, but I like talking about it.

 

For some reason people always seem to check out my 1992 Integra GS more often than my camaro. The Teg is a super boring, slow car, completely stock. I dont really get it...

 

My brother bought his first thirdgen about 10yrs ago and I dont think I have ever been in the car with him once without someone staring at it. trying to race him or just admiring it and asking if he wants to sell it. Oh and of course the is it fast question lol.


Just today while I was waxing my car in my driveway a person walking by came up to me and complimented the car, and of course he asked if I was selling.

Sometimes It can be pretty annoying.

 

I get compliments all the time, where people go out of their way to give you one.
I've had a few nice weekend cars over the years .... and the Iroc get's more compliments and cost the least.... I notice the ladies eyeing it too.

 

The only comments I usually get are from guys my age who remember them from back in the day. The car I had before this one was like a movie star! But it was a lot more expensive.

 

The IROC vert gets comments from a lot of cougars who remember cars like it from when they were in highschool. And last year when we drove the GTA from coast to coast, it was pretty common to see people taking pictures of it at gas stations and to have them come over, compliment it, and then talk about how they had one and want another one like ours.

 

The single word that I've heard many, many times over the years is 'clean.'

I hear all the time, I had one just like that but i sold it when i had kids. And i have turned down some sales and trades in my 12years with it.

 

The best compliment ive received was from a girl i was dating. And this is the reason why.

She came down to spend the weekend with me. The first day she was in town we were up in down in my GTA. Well, she always had something to say about it. She would ask why i dont sell it and get a new car. She would complain that the door was too heavy for her to close. That the car was too low for her, etch etch... I try to explain to her as to why I purchased the car and what it meant to me. But this is like trying to teach a blind man how to drive. Any how, i guess the car GODS decided to help me out a bit. For the rest of the weekend i kept receiving complements. Guys coming up to me asking me questions about the car. Older guys telling me how they remember when it first came out.. etch.. etch.. after the 2nd day of random questioning or complements from guys, she apologized and started asking what made my car so special. She said the car grew on her through the weekend and would love to drive it now.. lol lol By the way, my car is a 89 GTA black on gold. All stock.. After that weekend, she never said anything negative about my car again.. =D

 

For some reason I've never had some one personally compliment my car. I did catch a young door to door sales man snap a pic of my car and nod his head at my car as he walked off. That felt great

 

sounds like my wife. She hated the car since I bought it without her permission. She wanted me to sell it but when people would come over when I had it sitting in the driveway after a ride that she would not join she kept hearing from friends how rare and special the car was.. one day she siad she would go for a ride. said it was not as bad/junky as she thought it was... thats a compliment coming from an asian whose dream car was a honda accord she now refuses to let me sell it after she sees how happy my 14 year old and his friends all want rides when it is out of storage.

One day I drove it to work and the security guard said hey nice Viper man!
He had it confused with a guy who had a viper where I worked..lol

ALWAYS get compliments on my GTA whenever I have it out. Most people always say how rare it is to see a really clean and well kept 3rd gen.

 

I always get compliments. When it's parked it's mostly from guys. When I'm driving it it's mostly from girls. Late one summer night, around 2 am, I was driving through downtown Toronto with the roof off windows down and passed what looked like a group of friends in their early 20s walking on the sidewalk. There was one girl and the rest were guys. Slowly cruising passed the group I heard the girl say "Hay look at that Trans Am!" to one of the guys in the group. The guy just said "so what." She replied "But it's a TRANS AM!" then yelled "I love your car."

A lot of people these days don't know what it is. I've even had someone get up close to it and say "nice Ferrari"

 

I got one just yesterday. I drove it down to my daughter's track meet, windows down, tops out, etc. The lady taking money for admission looked right at it and said, "Nice car!" It looks really good at first glance, but if you spend some time, you'll see stuff that needs to be fixed, so my first reaction is always to want to say, "Thanks, but it needs..." and point out all the faults. I've learned to tell that voice to shut up and just say, "Thank you." If I waited until I was pleased with everything that needs to be fixed on it, it'd be sitting for a while, and I didn't buy it to let it sit. I do get compliments on it about every other time I take it somewhere, which is nice. I'm not in it for the compliments, but I appreciate hearing that other people appreciate a 28-year old car.

 

I have lost count how many have complimented my car. I have had full blown conversations at stop lights and even one offer for someone to buy my car while in traffic (had my car been a manual, I may not have it right now as he would have bought it). Also lost track of all the people that knew someone that had one. "You remember when (insert freind/relative here) had a Camaro/IROC like that, man that car was the **** back then." I've heard that line at so many car shows it's not even funny anymore.

 

I have had my IROC over 20 years and it has always gotten comments, stares and offers. I just finished rebuild on it and the first day I drove it, 3 different times, people came up to the car and asked questions or commented.

I remember 10+ years ago I went through a McDonalds drive through and the employee asked if I wanted to sell it heh.

The third gens were special and anyone in there 30s+ have some memory of a friend or family member that owned one. People tell me all the time "I wish I hadn't sold mine" or "my buddy and I use to cruise in his". It brings back memories for many people!

 

I get that too. I have a neighbor who is in his late 40's. He rides harleys now, but he always talks to me about how he just bought a new, black IROC Z and had to sell it 6 months later when he found out he was going to be a daddy.

I was driving out in the country on easter and I had a guy try to pull a "counting cars" on me. I wouldn't pull over, but he was basically trying to throw money at me to get the car on the spot. Not for sale bro.

 

I've had a few guys in their obviously faster cars try to get me to race, I take that as a compliment... I assume they know it's slow and are trying to bait me in to being embarassed... Which is why I'm going with as stock of a look as possible with the LS1 swap.

Had lots of thumbs up, people staring, and people saying nice car when I'm out for a cruise.

Went to a car show and was going to park in the general parking, but they parked me in the show area just to have the car there even though I wasn't entered. Came back from taking a look around and had a handfull of people checking out the car.

A buddy has a big Fly in weekend (private grass runway on his farm, and a bunch of buddies fly their cessnas, old war planes and home built aircraft for a bbq) and they have a little area portioned off for "show cars". I took the car down and had it parked at my camp site but he said to put it in the show car area and it got lots of attention all weekend.

I can't wait to have the car painted and have a headliner that doesn't sag (obvious with the tops out) and be proud to show it off. Even with these issues it's still better than most 3rd gens I see out there, when I go to the local friday night car guy hang out, I'm usually the best 3rd gen there overall.

Girls love the car for some reason. I've had a phone number left under the wiper blade at a mall, and I get more smiles when I'm in the car than when I'm on the bike.

 

The best compliment of all came from my daughter. The whole time I spent fixing this car up she told me she hated it. Got upset with me for picking her up from school in it because it was so loud. I was sort of crushed, but I wasn't giving in and driving the Jeep. After a few weeks of picking her up from school and some of her friends obviously checking the car out, she now won't let me go straight home. We have to take a drive around town. She will count the heads that snap to it at stop lights. I have to tell her we HAVE to go home because it's starting to get expensive just cruising around for her amusement.

 

I had the same exp. I have a daughter who is now 20 but when she was 17 I picked her up in it from school unexpectedly. she felt so embarrassed. she really didnt like the car and thought it was ugly.. the next day she had so many guys asking about it who saw her get in it she was amazed.. said it wasnt bad after all now brags about it to new friends when they show interest about cars "you wont believe what my Dad owns" she says now! and tells them how rare it is

 

I get them all the time. No nice third gens around here so mine stands out, evidently. Best one was a guy in a new 5th gen Mustang 5.0 at the local cruise scene leans out his window and says "That car's sick as f***." I'm not entirely certain he even knew what car it is, but the compliment was nice.

 

My daughter is only 2, she says "I want to ride in the noisy car!"

 

I can't go anywhere without people complimenting my car not to mention all the heads it turns. People of all ages. I have kids on bikes who yell as I ride by. The night before last I was pulling up to a curb to park behind a really nice classic MG. I waved the 60ish year old owner by so he could get to his car. He stops, waves me by and when I get out starts telling me he hasn't seen "my style Firebird" as pretty as mine in a long time. I love it, male, female, young or old.....they all love my car. I get a big kick out of it.

 

my car is pretty ugly and I get compliments. mostly because of how it sounds. The red GTA I had was beautiful and I got compliments all the time on that car

 

I always got compliments in my 82 Z28, and people freaked over the factory opening hood scoops lol. And its kind of funny because a lot of people think 80s cars like the 3rd gen camaros and firebirds and the fox body mustangs are horrible cars, yet I've owned 3rd gen camaro and Firebirds and a fox body coupe, and I've got more compliments in those cars then I have ever got on anything else I've ever known. Makes me proud cuz I love 80's cars

 

I had a 70+ year old woman come up to me and say" What a beautiful car....they don't make 'em like that anymore" I was very flattered. Another time I was at the gas station returning to the car after paying for my fuel and there was a couple walking around my car just staring and smiling ear to ear saying how nice and clean my car was. They asked if they could take a few photos, I agreed and shortly after was back on the road. Needless to say I felt bulletproof after that

 

My two daughters call it "Daddy's fast car", and will fight over who gets to sit in the front with me. I took it to Autozone one day, and got compliments from just about every employee in the store. Makes me smile because the other two I had never really got any compliments when I owned them.

 

I get tons of compliments everywhere I go. Lots from chicks and talk from cougars. Downtown areas I have had people from the sidewalk yelling "sweet car" and so on.

 

its so 80s man.. Miami vice..lol not a bad thing. Loved to sit in that model in the dealerships. Maybe I sat in yours..lol

 

That's why I dig it even more! I even blast 80s pop cruising around lol.

Like I said earlier in this thread, all ages, men or women compliment my car. I was on my way to the first car show of the season on Saturday and I while sitting at a stop light, I look to my right and there is this biker guy on a beautiful chopper.....He points at my car and then gives me a thumbs up with a huge smile. My wife gets a huge kick out of the attention my car gets......so do I.

Hope I'm not out of line, but since we are talking about compliments on our cars, it would be cool to see some of your rides here. Here's a pic of mine.....

 

Sure, it's not perfect but I like it. It's in my parents garage until I finish up in Italy, and the one week that I was at their place I didn't take any pictures when the weather was nice. I've only got these for now.

I've had one compliment so far, and that's while it was wearing the old trashed paint.. a young kid said he liked my firebird (its a camaro). Lol

Like others have said, I can't drive anywhere without people staring, giving thumbs up, trying to "sneak" pictures, or asking me to sell it. Most of the people doing the staring are small children and guys in their late 30s.

As far as the girls, I guess its just where I live, but girls completely care less what kind of cars we drive. All they care about is how much money we make and how popular we are.

As far as the compliments, they have noticeably increased after replacing my IROC-Z door stickers. I love it.
