Paint job..
Hey guys,
I have an all white 86 bird and the paint is getting rough from college and I'm looking to paint it.
I'm hoping for this: http://car-from-uk.com/ebay/carphotos/full/ebay1027258.jpg
That color scheme is my favorite and blue just so happens to be my favorite color.. I'm not too worried about originality as I'm swapping the engine too.
Taking this to a decent place in town for an estimate. Does anyone know the name of this color scheme or color codes? I like the fade effect too, didn't know if that is a special thing. Coming to painting, I have no idea what anything is.. Just want to get some advice

I could not get your link to work so I posted the photo for you.
Sometimes you must put more of a space between the link you post and the sentences around it.
I like the color and scheme it has.
Don't be surprised if you get a quote of $ 3,000.00 or higher at a good automotive paint shop.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the fade he refers too, that's just a decal and not actual paint.

Re: Paint job..
Color changes always cost more because someone will end up sanding down by hand and repainting all of the door jams and cowl and any other PITA area to paint. 3,000 seems ballpark to me if you have no rust and very few dings and no dents. You can save a bit of money if you can remove everything and at least sand the ground effects. If you have a garage do ALL of the sanding yourself and really save, in the neighborhood of $1000. Sometimes you can also save if you allow them to finish it within reason without a completion date. If you also know someone who can buff you can have them spray clear and stop. Saves at least $250.

For some members taking it to a high school or college that does this work to teach students is an option and in comparison very cheap. It could even be free if you supply all materials and they agree to write you a tax slip for a charitable donation. Food for thought.

Try and get this kit from Phoenix instead of the rolled up stuff.

Re: Paint job..
Good tip with that kit - goes on easy and is already pre-contoured for the bends in the body. They have a similar kit for the IROC-Z ground effects stripe that I have used with great success.....even a cave man can do it!

Re: Paint job..
Thank you for the link to that kit! Unfortunately this like other planned restores are on the back burner because if a coolant leak, bad brakes, and the ebrake. I'm hoping *hoping* to have it painted by summers end. I'd much rather have a well running bird than a good looking one.
I appreciate everyone for the help!
