This is a Nomination Thread for cars that will compete for this month's Car of the Month honor. The most popularly nominated cars will be compiled into a Voting Thread within a couple weeks.
You can either nominate somebody else's car, or second a nomination (but not both). Cars must have a second nomination in order to make it to the Voting Thread.
Nomination Guidelines
Nominations must be of high quality, finished state, and in working order. No unrealistic, overly processed images. Please accompany the nomination with,
a single large, high quality photo
name of TGO member (with proper caps and spaces)
year, make, and model of car
Do not nominate your own car. Your car must be nominated by another TGO member. Cars must have a second nomination in order to continue to the Voting Thread.
Likewise, do not ask another family member or friend to join TGO for the purpose of nominating your car. Do not use multiple member accounts to nominate your own car.
Do not nominate more than one car.
If you are nominated, please DO go out and take an abundance of good quality photos of your car (multiple angles, interior, engine) and make them publicly accessible (for example via a photo album in your public profile, or some sort of hyperlink to your photo album).
*** This month's category ***
OPEN SEASON -- Any very high quality, finished, stock or modified 82-92 Camaro or Firebird
I would like to withdraw my previous nomination to save for next month in the low mileage category. It only makes sense to have that car among others like it.
I would like to instead, nominate kenmaisaano and his beautiful 1989 IROC-Z with a 334 cubic inch stroker, backed with a 5 speed and 3.73 rear end.
First of all, I am very impressed you found that car. That's got to be a COTM record for lowest miles!
Second of all, now I'm going to have to play my hand....
Next month's category is going to be "10K miles and under", and it will be an owners self-nomination round. A trusted person has told me that there are many very-low mile cars here, and if I let owners show themselves then they will come.
Since I have no doubt that car will make it to voting, I want to give@MikeJR1991 the choice of staying in the general competition this month, or wait until next month when the special category will be targeted specifically at cars like this.
He only has like 11 posts, so he may not even see this without a notification.
Yeah, the car is incredible. I think he bought it with 104 miles.
What a beautiful car. How do you not drive it?
In my childish mind, I think of the island of misfit toys from "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Toys unhappy because no one is playing with them. This car would be crying out to me to drive it, to use it for what it was intended for.
Not meant to criticize the lucky owner. For some people just having and looking at and maintaining a car worth it to them.
I would like to nominate dm3k and his 1988 IROC 5.7. I think he was nominated before but I believe it was over a year ago but this ride deserves a second chance. I also have an addiction to red 3rd gens!
I'm disappointed with participation too. So far only 1 car has been pushed through to voting with a second nomination. I appreciate your good will to nominate 86IROC112, but you can nominate only one car at a time.
My firebird has been my childhood dream.
Bought it for next to nothing.
Got through one major restoration with stock LO3.
3 color changes.
And now finally made it go as good as it looks to me - swapped for an LQ4, put a cam in and lots of other goodies.
Has been with me for over 10 years now.
He was nominated just last month, so I don't know if the rules permit this. If so, I nominate Bob88GTA.
Yes, you can.
Although there is an unwritten gentleman's agreement that we usually don't re-nominate back-to-back or too frequently. Reason why is because in the old days people used to nominate their buddies over and over and over again until they won. That's obviously not the case here, just explaining the background behind the gentleman's agreement.
