Ram Air Hoods

Can you guys post some pics of your Ram Air I and II hoods. I'd like to see a few samples so I can decide on what one I might get. Thanks.

I mostly went with the Suncoast because it was functional. Though, I also thought it went with the lines of front the car better. It matches the turn signal and headlight steps. It is right in line with them and fills the space completely from side to side. There is no gap b/w them, so to me it looks less like a scoop added to a stock hood. I also liked that the suncoast hood from the front was more agressive looking. To me, it looked as if that hood could have been an option for the car at the time.

I wanted the RAII style, but again it was set too far back. I wish someone had designed the RAII so that the nostrils were as far forward as the Suncoast hood, but overlaped the nose, to get the sloped look of the ASCD RAI and the RAII styles.

I agree the ASCD hood has a more finished look the way it slopes down and flows into the hood on the front. I just did not like how far back it was set. If I had the cat eyes front like the 91s, I would have gone with the ASCD hood. It definately looks best w/ that nose, since it lacks the stepped turn signal and headlight look.

I can relate to the ASCD on the 91-92 Redraif. On the earlier models, it even looks stock!
The Suncoast hood is functional, and that matters too. To make the ASCD functional it takes a little improvising, and I am planning on a design soon for it. (Similar to the SLP dual snorkel but pointing UP to the inlets on both sides as well as a way to connect to the air intake.)
Just have to get the right parts and improvise.

Improvise... My favorite word.

The way of the 3rd gen is to learn to improvise.

Yes, you can say that since the aftermarket seems to be pursuing the 4th generation of our cars these days.

Isn't it something? 10 years after the 3rd generation of F-Bodys, there are those of us that continue to improvise.

I think that is a good thing! Look at how many cars that are still around that are around the same age as our cars.

Rex Orr is interested in what I am designing. I hope to have the prototype done by next month. I'm taking my time and doing it right.

I believe planning to make the ASCD hood functional. I'm sure people will be lining up at you door step if you do. Just remember to put something in there to deflect the rainwater. SunCoast put a piece in that deflects the water. Seems to work. Been in 3 rainstorms so far and the filter looks good.

I have a 1" TBI spacer, a Holley 670 CFM TBI unit on top of that, a non-drop 14" base and a 3" K&N open element on top of that!
(That means there is a lot of room by the way....)
I hope that helps you out.

Whats with you cant make a RAII fuctional, I've seen plenty of them functional. I think I'm going to get my V6 the RAII and fuctional. The only thing is I will have to improvise with the maf sensore.

The RAI is the one styled like mine and the ASCD, with the single hump.

The RAII is the one like the current (now axed ) Birds, with the dual humps.

I think the reason they say you can't make it functioal is that the box is hard to seal on that style. To be truely "functional" as a "Ram Air" style it has to seal the box so no air escapes. My hood has a indention the exact same size as the filter the 2 meet up and seal. So any air that comes thru the snouts is forced into the filter. On the RAII style there is not the filter sized indention in the hood. Unless you make your own seal it is more of a cold are induction that a true funtional RA.
