It is time for new pass. compartment carpet for my car. Its an 84 T/A. I would like to find an exact replacement, in otherwords, I want it to look just like my original carpet would have when new. (same plastic area on the driver's floor, by the pedals, etc) Does anyone have any recomendations on brands or companies to order from? I know next gen has the correct color for my car, but I would like to hear if anyone has used other companies and how it turned out. Thanks for any help.
I plan on doing a headliner soon after the carpet, so If anyone has any info on that too, id like to hear it.

For the carpet, I'd try www.1aauto.com , they sell ACC brand carpet (which is also in JCWhitney).

The headliner is available plus an ABS backing in classic industries for somewhere around $170. I found a local shop that's willing to do the headliner, visors, and sailpanels for 130. Your best bet is to find one of the local guys.

You defiantly want ACC for the carpet, nothing else compares.

As far as the headliner, you could go to a local shop to have it covered, but remember that if you buy a new one, i got mine for $150 inc ship, its on ABS Plastic which doesn't fall apart like the fiberglass one that came stock. Also the guys at the shop propally won't spray Fiberglass over the old headliner to stiffen it up, unless you tell them too.

Of corse, you could always do it yourself, do a search, a lot of people have done that.

If you are going to do something, do it RIGHT!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply's guys, I agree ACC does look like the best so far. I also think I will be going w/ the ABS headliner. I plan on doing it myself (doing it right!).

Anyone know how ACC ships their carpets? I have heared horror stories of creased carpets that never lay flat...

The only thing I hated about my ACC carpet was the center console hole needed to be cut back about 6 or 7 inches to fit it properly and had to cut holes for all studs and bolts for the seats and belts, but other than that the whole carpet is perfect. The cargo carpet goes right in without a hitch.

you can order the ACC carpet pre-cut or un-cut. its the same price, two different part numbers, make sure you get the one you want. most likely you want pre-cut.

I just installed new carpet (ACC) and it looks great, I ordered the pre-cut carpet and still had to trim the carpet for the shifter and the seat bolts but it wasn't a problem. as stated the cargo area just dropped in without a hitch.

If you read a follow the instruction on the web site it states to let the carpet sit out in the sun for a hour or so to soften it up a bit, I spred mine out on the driveway while removing all the old stuff and when I was ready it was VERY plyable, made it alot easier.

I put the carpet from ACC in a few years ago. (Bought it from 1aauto.com. I called to place my order, just to make sure they were in stock.) You can match the color of your carpet at ACC's main site, http://www.accmats.com - but they want more $$ for the carpet. (I still don't understand why!)

I laid mine out in the hot sun, too, and it uncreased. I also bought two cans of Scotchguard from the local Pep Boys, and sprayed the carpet down with it before I put the carpet in the car. I also ordered the carpet "with" the console cutout, and had to enlarge the hole... no biggie. Just be careful cutting the SIDES- I cut a bit too much, and on the passenger side of teh console, you can see about 1/4 inch of the floorpan. I stuck a carpet scrap in there to fill the hole, but dammit, if I just test-fitted that console one more time before making the cut, it wouldn't have happened.

Why does everything bad happen on the passenger side of the car???

I was leaning towards ACC. I have some carpet color samples on their way to me. But I have just heard two horror stories from two very trusted friends/ F-body enthusiest's. One said his Black carpet turned green within 3 days (ACC) the other said his grey carpet turned blue (ACC). In both cases, these cars were garaged! So I am getting a little nervous here. Are their any other major brands?
I intend to place the carpet samples inside my car on the dash and see if they will fade/ change color. If everything is OK, I guess I will go w/ ACC.

I've had my carpet in my car for over 2 weeks and eariler when I was in my 85 the carpet was still black. I have my car outside all the time too.

I have had nothing but good luck with ACC carpet in my restorations over the years. Wouldn't even consider any other brand. Putting it out in the sun for a while is almost a necessity for a good tight fit. I've used black in one of my Oldsmobiles, and stock grey in Blue without any color changing problems, and those have both been in since the early 90's. If you did have a fade problem, I'm sure ACC would warranty it. Lastly, I always recommend cutting a chunk out of your old carpet from under your rear seat and sending it in with your order so that you get a good color match. There are sometimes huge variations in color between batches, and this eliminates having to send the carpet back because the color while close ends up clashing with the rest of your interior (I had that happen the 1st time I ever ordered, and they replaced it with a carpet that matched my swatch without question).

I just got my 1aauto sold ACC carpet in yesterday. JET BLACK!!! Thanks for all the tips guys, I'm going to set it out in the sun in a little bit and start taking out the old red interior. This should take a while.

Also...is there supposed to be some kind of vacuum line that comes with new power TA seats? I've got GTA seats and was wondering (since I didn't see anything resembling a vacuum line come with the new seats) if the the supposed vacuum line from the GTA seats will work ok. Thanks in advance if you've got some truth for me. And as far as the new floor mats...:hail: 1aauto

Why would you need a vacuum line for the seats?

It took me a day to yank the old carpet and put the new ACC stuff in. The longest part was trimming the ACC carpet for the console, cutting the holes for the seat belts, punching thru the carpet for the seat studs, and trimming the edges at the doors so I could put the door sills back.

The pump for the inflatable lumbar support is located on the driver's seat. You have to have something to run between the seats to pump the other up.
