Everyone,... what are your thoughts on this...

I'm finally back in Texas{where my bird was dead for 9 months}, and I'm trying to do as much as possible before I move back to Ca. So far this weekend, I've put in a new alternator, and battery. Changed the oil, to full synthetic. took out the seats, console, and carpet.{ plan on putting in 4th gen seats / console, or some corbeau GTS II's. I plan on painting it iether black with a bit of metallic flake in it, or a deep midnight blue. {Possibly with a Blue phosphorescent {glow int he dark} Firebird airbrushed on the hood} Anyway, now onto the body and interior question. I'm still undecided on which way to go. I don't know whether I should get new carpet{black, or silver}, or if I should go with this idea. Rhino Lining instead of carpet. {the stuff that goes in truck beds to protect them} with Polished diamond plate bolted down as floormats on the driver and pass side. Perhaps diamond plate pedals as well. and a new dash, still dont' know what I want it to look like. No Rice looking kid crap though. Let me know your thoughts. All opinions appreciated.

Ditto - get new carpet. Rhino line the interior of a thirdgen? You are WAY over-engineering it. Carpet will look better in every possible circumstance.

I'd rethink my position if your Firebird had a ProComp 8" lift and 38" mudders.

Lol, What can I say, I had to walk / wade through 2 feet of muddy water to get to a pole the other day at work. I'm just trying to do something different. and I have been known to keep a box of trash bags in the hatch to make throw away seat covers when I'm just plain filthy. Hmm, hopefully someone out there will give me a tiny bit of approval so I can rationalize it in my head and go ahead with it. Thanks guys

Go with carpet... truckbed lining would look dumb, and so would diamond plate.

the lining is pretty sweet..........but really only for race cars! we just finished up a mustang with it and it came out great. resale value would be completely shot out the window and i don't think i would want it personally; but it wasn't that bad. i guess it's something you have to see in person.

the plating for floormats, i don't think that would look too good; but it's your car. i would also stay away from the airbrushing as it may look tacky. but; again your car.

your ideas are definatley different which i like so good luck with it!

Okay, perhaps no on the diamond plating, and at least the airbrushing on the hood. I might still sneak in some on the sail panel. {I've heard that the pigment can be mixed into the paint,a nd it won't be seen in daylight, only at night}. As for Resale value,... Why the F,(# would I sell my Firebird!?!? sorry, it's a touchy idea... About the Lining, If I don't like it, I can always dynomax the floor, and put some carpet over it. So I think I'll go with it. I can always cover it up. Thanks guys for the remarks about the diamond plate. now that I think about it, it would be kind of weird. unless I made an amp with a diamond plate case / cover.

yep match it with an amp and its all good..............

why the "F,(#" would you sell your firebird; beats me...hell it wasn't the point. my main point was that stuff is pretty much useless to remove, it makes it impossible to have good contact when installing something like dynomat; it also makes it rather difficult to just lay carpet over the top and have all your interior pieces fit like original.......say if you wanted it too. ever try removing tar off of a roof? similar idea only much worse.

i'm not telling you what to do, just trying to open your eyes since i deal with this type of stuff everyday with people who have a rational use for it.

quit trying to be a hardass and take a suggestion for what it is..........a suggestion.

The why would I sell it line was a joke, I wasn't trying to be a hardass.

yeah, i think that's your best bet in the end.

ACC makes some excellent carpets. jcwitney carries them under a different name and sells them for less!

they are alot nicer than stock and will really make an impovement. show some pics if you get it done.

What if you went with the black rubber matting found in the taxis/cop cars? That stuff is durable as hell and can take quite a beating. They could probably sell you a roll of it and you cut to fit.
