Here's a link to pictures of a functional crossfire CAI. I am selling this hood because I'm parting the car out.

Here's a shot of the hood off an 82 Z with CFI. In 82, 83, and 84 these hood were available. All 82 and 83 CFI cars got fibreglass functional hoods and in all three years non-cfi cars got steel ones that were not functional.

I found an 83 Z that had a carb motor and a non-functioning glass hood. Car was a weird one tho! Was totally stripped(no options)a/c delete, 4 spd--but it had factory t-tops! Weird combo!

Re: Functional camaro hood louvers

there are a few cars with functional louvers... you have to take some junk yard louvers and cut the vent holes, then sand the edges smooth, then paint.

do some searching, you will find them (I'm doing the same mod).

This is Dale Earnhardt's camaro (red)

Nobody makes those shown. You have to custom cut your own.

Re: Functional camaro hood louvers

I can see the point in this mod if you are running a carb-get more air to the filter, but for a TPI car besides letting heat out of the engine bay all it's going to do is let the engine get more dirty. I mean cudo's on the custom louvers and they look good, but hate a dirty engine bay LOL!

would actually create downforce on the front end because all the air that is otherwise trapped in the engine bay is getting released

Re: Functional camaro hood louvers

I could see where this mod would help keep your engine cooler but I do agree that it also would let in more dirt/dust into the engine bay.

Re: Functional camaro hood louvers

I think it's a good mod.

Will reduce high pressure area under the bonnet as well as improve cooling.
