please help - spoiler mounting ???

i like the 91-92 hi-rise wing but have really wanted to have a clear center section ... i know that some people have had problems mounting the z28 spoiler on firebirds b/c the rears on 'birds are ~1" wider. do you think that this spoiler would work ? unless i'm mistaken, since there are no center posts it would have to mount the edges/legs of the spoiler directly on the rear decklid ... which means that it wouldn't look like it didn't belong. right ?

info and help is welcomed :hail:

( o and don't worry, i'll take my GTA's current wing off before mounting this one - i don't like the dual-downforce style either =/ )

Yeah, there isn't really enough space to mount the spoiler to the decklid if you removed the center pillars.
Here is a pic of mine directly from the rear,

this is a massively quick and dirty photochop, but suppose that spoiler were mounted the same way ... would it look like this ?

*this was my 300th post!!! while that figure may mean nothing to a post ***** like mark shields, it's a nice big round number ... and it's a start to catching up to him !

Funny you say that.. there was (I haven't seen it in awhile) a T/a running around here with the aero wing and the Z highrise mounted on top of that. It wasn't a hack-job either but, talk about looking very odd...
The paint color and wheels were not much to fancy either though...

lol Actually there's a fourth gen around here similar to that, with some silly aftermarket spoiler bolted ontop of the stock spoiler. Bright red, huge rims, yellow "Shell" gas station decals on the sail panels, etc. Very sad really.

The worst part is that I'm dead serious. I think he even had some yellow decals on the hood (It's been a couple of months since I've seen it). Yep, poor taste at best.

k well to get back on topic

the rear hatches are exactly the same on chevy/pontiac f-bodys aren't they ? namely i could take an 89 iroc rear hatch assembly including the metal decklid, mount it on my GTA, and have it fit perfectly except i'd possibly lose the defrost and pull-down motor ?

your defrost and pull down will work just as they do now. The hatches are -identical- except for the spoiler mounting holes.

as long as we're talking about transplanting spoilers, how hard does anyone suppose it would be to fit this on the back of a GTA? if a 4th gen trans-am spoiler can fit, shouldn't a 4th gen camaro spoiler be able to fit since this one mounts to the hatch too ?

I have a hatch from a trans Am that has Rear Defrost on it, but My rear defrost hasn't worked since I bought the car, but it should work just fine... Why wouldn't it?

The power pull down workes great too! Again Why Wouldn't it ?

Here is a shot, the Wraparound is currently off getting primed and the deckilid is already in grey primer...
