Front wheel arch 'shield' fitting
Front wheel arch 'shield' fitting
I've just had my car resprayed and I'm in the process of refitting the bits. On the front fenders, the wheel arches have plastic shields that have push in clips around the edge. The problem is, pulling out these clips basically wrecked them and I need new clips. I can't find them for sale anywhere (I live in the UK). Does anyone know where I can get hold of some?
Thanks
Peter

Peter,
Welcome to the site.No problem with the clips.I bought a bag full from Bauer and Millet in Manchester but if you look in Classic American magazine you will find loads of companies who will be able to order them for you.
Also,go to the Classic Car show at the NEC in 2 weeks time as there will be a big autojumble and trade stand area where you may find somebody selling these clips
cheers

Coincidence or what!
I did this job today also and didn't have any clips either! Halfords sell a good line of body trim clips! No, don't laugh, they really do!
erictheviking; I live in Chesterfield-J29 M1 with my 2 Camaros!! Both projects, one hit the road for the first time today after a 2 year wait for a 350 powerplant, gearbox and major restoration! I only bought it in January though. MOT next!! See sig.

I'm going to be needing them also, for the same reason soon. I don't live in the U.K. so getting them isn't a problem, but they cost about $1 apiece everywhere I've seen them around here, which is crazy. Does anyone know of a place online, where you can buy them in bulk or something?

I simply shot the plastic pieces with WD-40, then used two slot-type screw drivers to work the 'stem' out of its 'legs.' These fasteners are easily reusable.

Only problem is I've already ripped them out and they look awful now. I'm not really confident in their durability if I should re-use them. They were already in bad shape because my tire blew on the freeway and shredded, ripping the hell out of my stone shield and gfx.
