How can one fix the console?
I'm sure that anyone that has a firebird of the 3rd generation is having the lips of the console peel down and/or curl away from the rest of the console. Does anyone have any ideas on how one can fix this? Has anyone ever done it before? Please fill me in on getting this very common problem fixed w/o spending over $250 for a new console.

#1) forget epoxy...
#2) this is how I did mine an it turned out 99% perfect, no one notices the little imperfection 'cept me.
1) Remove shifter ****
2) remove your shifter plate
3) remove center console from car... its just easier to work with...
4) there is a thin layer of foam stuff that is glued to the vinyl remove it where the lip is. (use your finger, scraper whatever it takes) You cannot glue to this stuff it just gives and you have the same situation you had before.
5) there is a lip where the vinyl attaches to the structure of the center console, and I used superglue to glue it to it... I did little sections and worked my way around, turned out great...
hope this helps...
BTW, I am glad you like my artwork for your Avitar

thanks, but no thanks, i am a college student and dont have $$$ laying around to spend on a console when mine is fixible with time and superglue. Plus it isn't really necessary to fix, it will just look better, and also keep it from getting any worse.
The way i fixed mine was first i removed the console, then I took some of the 3M Super Adhesive Trim Spray (In the can obviosly). I then peeled back carefully the area that came apart, sprays some adhesive inside, then to keep it tight against the plastic upper console area, i used duct tape. I would take one end and stick it to the side where the adhesive was then stretch it tightly across the consol to the other side i did that all the way down the side that i sprayed so it would have a uneven line. Then just let it sit over night and it looks 100x better.
I used some 3m emblem and trim adhesive on mine.
I took out the shifter **** and handle, then used some thin pieces of wood and c clamps to hold it all together over night.
Still looks great 4 years later
