special edition iroc?

A friend of mine has an 85 iroc w/ a sticker on the back bumper cover that says special edition. It matches the gold decals on the car. Could it really be some kind of special edition, or can it only be some decal that someone slapped on it? I've never seen special edition decals on other camaros...

Well one time I was over my friends house puttin a system in his subaru when I saw his neighbor cruisin his yard on his dirtbike. I talked to him then he opens the garage to reveal an 85 z28 special edition. It was black had some gold trim on it w/ gran national wheels (put on by the dudes dad) and it had the 305 TPI. It didn't run of course because it sat in the garage for two years untouched, its got 55k on it, looked to be from the factory. MIght be something to think about. This was only a z tho.

These "SE" cars were marketed only in California by the dealers association. They do exist in limited #s.

I remember an old post by Drew on this subject.

Thanx,ANDYZ28

I don't think they were GM authorized cars. I looked at an 87 Iroc that was like that, said special edition on the back bumper and had pin stripes on the upper fenders and some other matching decals. Other than than it was the same as any other Iroc.

Yeah, try the History board. But the only "special" IROC I've heard of is the California IROC.

I agree with it just being BS. GM probably wanted to see who would spend the extra money for their car to say Special Edition
