non thirdgen.. how much to repair?

so there was a bad ice storm here.. and a tree fell and hit my 1970 camaro.. :/ the dent looked a lot worse in the daytime.. or maybe it's not that bad.. but i took some pictures of the dent
it's on the driver's side near the front end.. luckily the car seems rock solid, and the tree only caused damage to one spot..

really a shame because the body was in perfect shape.. (besides some rust.. but you can't notice it from the outside) do you think i could bang it out.. so you can't even notice it was there?

or would it be better to take it in and see if we can get it out professionally..

how much would that cost?

Normally the 70 would be pulled in the garage, but the third-gen (87) was in there so we could work on it..
here are some images..

you can TRY a hammer and dolly. you would have to get behind the fender w/ the dolly and use the hammer on the top. i know older cars had thick steel so im not sure how well that would work. the 2nd way is to sand the area to bare metal and get one of those guns that welds a nail to the middle of the dent (you might have to do it in a few spots, that dent is pretty big) then take a slide hammer. it will take a lot of the dent out but then youll have to bondo, sand, glaze, sand, prime, ect...
good luck

Your best bet would be to bust out the yellow pages and call around to local shops. Good luck, that looks like a really nice car.

i'm really sorry for you. that car is beautiful. your best bet if have never done body work before, is to ask around some local body shops for prices. i don't think it would be that much to repair. good luck with it

do you live in the NC area? that's where i'm in and the ice storm beat up a bunch of the trees in chapel hill. i saw lots of branches on cars and kept thinking how happy i was that they weren't cars i actually liked. unfortunately you ruined that didn't you?!? i'm just kidding. i'm sure you'll get everything fixed up right, you've got a classic!

For a car that old in that nice of shape, i'd see about having a body shop fix it. Always remember, you get what you pay for. Or at least you SHOULD. Good luck, and nice car.
