You Know What SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being at work and your mother calls, and says someone backed into my passengers side door

my brother was cleaning off his car and saw the whole thing. so i have a witness, he went off and got the information from the person.. i am so mad right now.. i dont get off work untill 5pm and it just happened at 3pm...

i took my moms van because it was snowing and i didnt want to get in an accident....go figure.. i manage to get into an accident even though my car is parked outside of the house and i am 10 miles away from it at work...

i dont know how bad it is... i am almost crying right now just thinking about it..

i got some more info from my bro on the phone.

first off the whole dent is white from the car, second its about as long as a pencil. not too sure on the depth and thickness. sounds like more than a parking lot ding.........

i hope a shop can take it out without using bondo!!!

Yea, that doesn't sound too bad... sucks that it had to happen in the first place though

Oh well, as said before, not too bad sounding and hopefully your beautiful Formula will be terrorizing the streets again soon

Just be happyyou caught the person! Someone kicked my car (can see the outline of the foot print) front driver's side fender right at the marker light, and I dont know who did it cause there was no cameras at my old work. Now it is all up to me cause I only have liability! Hope yours turns out better than mine.

Glad to hear its not major damage,or that the person didnt keep scraping across your car.Is your paint chiped or cracked there? If not then it might be a candidate for PDR.I think something similar happened to my car before I bought it. From about halfway on the bottom of my door was knocked in and the dents had been drilled and pulled out poorly, then the damage went to the bottom of the rear quarter and up too the wheel well lip and stopped just before the gas door. I almost cried when I found all the damage.

the dent is above the molding, there is also a scrape under it, and some of the molding is chewed up.. but overall not too bad.

Let us know how much the estimate is....I'd really like to know. MY 84 got trashed last june...I was just setting at a stop light and an 83 yr old b*tch rearended me and now it's totaled.....now..I have 2 bulging disks in my back (permanent) and her insurance company doesn't want to give me one dime..so..it's time for a lawyer.....so..I now have my 91 Z28.....thanks to my mom letting me borrow the money...

Damn right. If their insurance is paying for it, it's new door time if they can't knock it out without bondo. If the color doesn't match right. Get a new paint job. I would stick it to the insurance company. It needs to be just the way it was before the accident. If not better. I just recently went through the same thing with my truck. I know your pain man. Although I was there in the truck when it happend. Brand new 2002 truck. Had it only 4 months when that woman slammed into me. This kind of thing sucks big time.

update if anyone cares.. i have an estimate of $430.09 to fix what this girl did to my car..

guess what she still wants me to get an estimate from the shop she knows..

i am going to call her up after work and tell her this..

i was being nice not going through insurance however, if you dont like this estimate then i am affraid its going to insurance.

if she doesnt like that i may have to get a police report which i really dont feel like doing..

if it goes to the insurance i may have to get another estimate in that case i will go to the local dealership..

what do you guys think about this?

geezzzz all i want is a check for that amount and be done with it.
i thought i am the person who decides where and when i can get my car fixed and she has the place she knows call me and tell me i have to get another estimate for her side

You should have got a police report the day it happened. Sorry to say, unless you have something signed by her and witnessed, you might not get a penny. If you dont have anything in writing, how are you going to go thru her insurance? Being a cop, I deal with stuff like this. You need to file a report with the police ASAP in case you have to go to her insurance company or court.

If you report it to insurance you WILL HAVE to take it to her shop and if their estimate is lower, you have to get it fixed there.....

Should have got a police report

Just tell her she has so many days to give you a check for the repair, or your calling the police and her insurance company.....

I would recomend going through insurance. Its real hard to squeeze money out of people. I got nailed a month ago and the lady didn't want her insurance to know. Now I am paying dearly for it. Some shops don't like to work on cars if there is no insurance company involved.

what i dont understand is that if wind up using her insurance than how do i get stuck using a shop she picks?

this is basically what i want, i want the money / check for the estimate i got and thats it!!!! no insurance involved, but she wants to use the shop she knows and i think even her brother works their and worst yet i dont want my car sitting for more than one day getting fixed.. i am going to start adding in money for inconvience and maybe start talking about a rental car and maybe that will make her fork out the money......

edit out

You dont want to post what you are going to use the money for on the internet. If you do go thru her insurance, they can not make you use a certian shop. You can use whomever you wish. It is now against the law for an insurance company to make you use any certian shop. By law, they can only make recommendations.

i will make sure i call her after work today to tell her what i think and also cancel the appointment at the shop she picked.

MdFormula350, your door will look different from the rest of your car for sure. Let me explain: the color will be identical if the paint is good BUT the luster will look newer for sure cause the paint will be fresh. Now if you want to loose that effect, all you have to do is to do a compound on the entire car and I tell you that no one, even you will see the difference. Does bondo means putty? if so, no bodyshop will give you a new door, much too expensive unless you pay yourself for it even if the insurrance pay. But it is very small and I wouldn't worry about having putty on the door, really, we do that even on brand new cars and there is no comeback. Hell, I have some on my own t/a too, it's no big deal. Just make sure the job is well done before you leave the garage so you won'T have quality problems.

P.S.: insurance money is as good as yours, they won't either botch or make the job longer because it isn't an insurance job.

hope I helped you a bit

If you go to a Insurance Company WITHOUT a police report and ask them to pay for it, a few things may happen....

1. You may have to submit 2-3 different estimates.....

2. They will pay you the lowest estimate, and you may be responsible for paying the difference for a higher priced shop to do it....

thanks for your support guys!!

the final update, i went and got the estimate from her shop and it was $479.64 bucks!! even more than mine.. go figure..

welll when i told her that on the phone at 6 pm, she told me she would call me back..

well the phone rang and the the same body shop called me, it was the same guy who called me up (friday night) and told me i had to come here a get the estimate today, which i did and i dont think i ever saw the guy/talked to him in person, anyway...

i got pretty angry when he called and said "when is a good time to come over and get it fixed" (i think even though i had the estimate for more money than mine, somehow this girl would still get a discount).. anyway the guy kinda talks for her (she doesnt speak english to well) any way i told him i want the money in my hand before i do anything else!! he said how come dont you want your car fixed and i said yes but i want money in my hand and i will go to the place i want.. anyway after a few minutes back and forth i kinda told him to tell her what i said and sure enough at 7 pm i got a call from her saying shes coming over and giving me a check for my estimate!!

final its over and the formula can be fixed soon.....
i now have a check for $430.09 dollars in my hand

:lala:

so i am going to get the whole car painted black most likely..

Try pasting in a percentsign20 (use the actual symbol) for spaces. They'll be replaced with spaces when you post. It's just as easy pushing ctrl-V as it is shift-_ .

so i believe it is over, i will be cashing the check today right after work...
Cool.. Glad it worked out okay for you then.
