carbon fiber console?

Has anyone ever made a console for a third gen out of carbon fiber? I am doing a custom interior on my 1986 bird and the original console is falling apart.

Not that i know of, year one/next generation sells a cf inlay kit. If you have acess to some weave and the oven im sure you could mold one.

I dunno if this helps but, www.superiorcustoms.com sells a kit for 82-92 Camaros that comes in Walnut, Rosewood, or Carbon Fiber. The Carbon fiber kit is around $300. Good Luck.

Do you mean the whole dash, like on some imports? From door to door? Or just the dash panel that hold the guages? Like mentioned above ,they make trim pieces to cover pieces of the interior and if you want, check out www.carboncomponents.com . Call them up and ask, thats where i got my piece from. good luck

I know I have seen carbon fiber inlays (essentially they where high-quality stickers) on eBaY for cheap. They also had fake aluminum and wood ones. But they were just that, cheap. Peronsally I didn't think they looked that great, but that could just be me. They covered the dash, gauge panel, console, and some of the door panels if I remember correct.

I'd check out ebay and import shops if I were you.

It sounds as if you are looking for an entire center console molded from carbon fiber to replace the stock unit. I've never seen one yet. Contact Carbon Components . They may be interested in making one. As has already been pointed out, several companies make carbon fiber overlay kits.

They might, but it will be expensive! I have already talked with Dave from Carbon Components about possibly making a hood for me and he wouldn't do it. I am sure they can, it would just be a big project for them. It still wouldn't hurt though to ask. Good luck, and by the way, Dave is pretty helpfull too.

are you talking about the whole console or the console lid? i know nothing about carbon fiber (except that its pricey), but i just made a custom console lid covered in leather. (actually high quality vinyl, but you wouldn't be able to tell the difference). i discovered a neat little tool called a leather awl, and it has chaged my life. haha. seriously though, i stiched it together....looks OEM. then, to make sure no one thought it was OEM, i stitched some subtle (same color thread as the leather) flames on the center/top panel. looks like a million bucks, cost only a few, plus hours of time.

so to answer your question, no i dont know about a carbon fiber console. haha
