Anybody running larger cowl hoods with Tpi?
I used to have a carbed car and I kept my 4" cowl when I swapped everything over to the 89 Iroc I got for free. The hood and front end were dented so I used the hood I had. I know the hood is a little overkill and is way unnecessary.
I did notice it seemed to run cooler. I guess the extra air doesn't hurt. Also if I ever go Stealth Ram, it might help more since the SR is awfully close to touching the stock hood.
I was just wondering if there is anyone else using a large cowl on their car just for looks? Maybe I can be convinced to keep it.
I have an offer from someone wanting to buy my hood and trade me for their stock RS hood. I am thinking about it. Any opinions are welcome. The car is being painted soon so I am trying to decide.

I forgot to mention I put an ad up in classifieds offering to trade my 4" for a 2" cowl. No bites yet. I've seen the 2" and like them a lot better. I just don't have the $$ to spend right now.

I've got a 3" cowl hood on my IROC. Although I'm known as the thirdgen stock ****, I do admit that I love how it looks. I bought it because my stock hood was trashed, and I liked the idea of the lighter hood. My car runs nice and cool, and weighs a little less now too.

Jim, I've seen your car before over at Northeast Third (I am Jerry over there) and I had no idea that was a 3". I was thinking it was a 2" That paint job is so good that the hood doesn't stand out as much. Mine is in primer so I guess it's more noticable. My brother keeps telling me to wait until it's painted before making up my mind. I might do that.

Hey, my number is 301-371-9070. That would be great, I really appreciate it. If you have him call just tell him to ask for David. Thanks!
i recently bought a 4 3/4 inch cowl hood from unlimited products for my 87 IROC. I mainly bought it for looks because carb or no carb, you gotta have a badass looking car and the only way to do so is cowl induction. i do have the holley stealth ram intake and it fits nicely under this hood. the good thing is when i plan to get either a 383 TPI stroker or a 454 TPI, i now have the choice to go carbed. but, then again i love the TPI. when i do get my crate engine i prob will be posting wether or not i shud go carburated. but this is all my opinion and i just love the way a car looks with a cowl functional or not.
