interior redone

in the next few weeks i will be starting a restoration of my interior. Do door panels come in any other color, the only 3rd gen ones i have seen are grey?

Oh and one thing for everyone else to do for the plastic parts, i heard you can sand the old finish away, prime it and paint it whatever color you want. is that possible?

There's a new rattle can paint out.. Fusion(?)

It molecularly bonds with the plastic.. Maybe someone else will chime in and explain more..

Priming/painting sucks. It will scratch with normal paint.

I've recently used Fusion on my panels, and it ROCKS! No priming, and after sitting for a week, it does not scratch off. Sure, if I took a sander to it, it will go away, but overall, it is great.

I have not personally done this, but I was going to buy an 86 El Camino with the Camaro nose and it had the single lens assembly. It was a kit from Lauren Engineering I think. But in a nutshell, it uses the head lights and I think brackets from a early 90's Caprice. You might be able to pick up all the needed parts and wiring for around $100 give or take a few bucks. It's a nice look though. You'll need probably all the brackets, harnesses, relays and whatever else. Check Lauren Engineering at http://www.laureneng.com . There should be a listing for just the kit or you could call or write about it.

Door panels seem to come in grey, black, red, tan, and brown. Those are the only interior colors our cars came in as far as I know.

Really? I have never seen a blue interior in one of these cars. Not even at the Bone Yard.

Be careful sanding your interior panels or you'll remove some of the grain that's molded in. It's better to find the plastic panels in the color you want, if possible.

BTW, if you type in "camaro (or firebird) door panels" on eBay, you'll usually find a bunch of colors on there.

I've got a blue door panel in my attic that came out of an 83 Z28.
