Well many people laugh at the idea of a V6 Camaro??? Why??? Well the way I see it is the v6's aren't ragged on as much as the v8s are so you generally have a better unibody to startfrom plus they are usually kept clean. Anyways you can always put anykind of v8 into a v6 car, not too hard of a job if you know what all needs to be done. As long as you have a straight body and frame the sky's the limit as to what the car can do.

Personally I wouldn't do it. If your going to be happy with the V-6 then yes get it. By all means. Many guys who have done the 6 to 8 swap say they would never do it again.
My car for example is a 1987 Pontiac Trans-AM. The body is straight. Never wrecked and has only one minor dent on the whole car. My spoiler is starting to crack in the usual spot. There is a pretty bad paint spot on the bumper were someone had tapped it. Not to hard to fix. I can spray the bumper again for cheap.
My interior needs alot of help. But that's easy and pretty cheap to do. If you are looking for a good V-8 specimen they can be found. If you want a V-8 do not buy a V-6 car.
You can of course do whatever you want with your money. I would simply save yourself the trouble.
I love my car. It's great. But I wish I would have gotten a L98 350.
Then instead of looking for a 350 to swap in I could pull my existing 350 and do all the work I am looking to do. Would have saved myself alot of trouble.

yea i dont really mind the V6 for right now but when i do get the cash i would like to do a 350 swap just for fun cuz its goin to be ,my project car(along with my monte unless i sell it)
Basically what everyone is saying is that its harder to do a v6-v8 swap than a v8-v8 swap. But if you plan on making a really sweet project car its not going to matter too much whether its a v6 or v8 or 4banger. Cause your goign to have to swap everything out anyways. Plus that car is a V6 carbed so it is not as hard to do a V8 swap since you wont have as much computer hassels. Besides for the price ur getting it for you could part the car and make the money back easy.

But hey... for what that car costs, it'll make a nice beater. My 2.8 camaro has 165k on the odo and still runs like a top. Since I bought it for $100 40k miles ago, I've had absolutely NO mechanical problems except for an alternator that went bad.

my wife actually works on cars with me so if she puts in the wrench time too of course she goin to drive it. Id be a flat out jerk if i said "well you worked on the car with me but you can never drive it" Id never do that to my wife. If she puts her blood sweat and tears into it, she can enjoy it as well
Yea its a FI 85 camaro
I mean for the price im gettin it for it will make a cheap project car and im bound to have loads of learning experiance when i dig into it, and if i get stuck on something ill be right back here

i would only do the v6 to v8 swap if in your state if a car is more than 20 years old, it no longer has to do an emmisions test. (I live in Virginia so this is true, but too bad i drive an 89
)
Anyways, is your car is more than 20 years old, or getting close to it, i would definatly swap in a carb'ed 350 with no of the electronic or smog ****. Hell, even if i had a v8 TPI i would still do the swap. TPI blows ***, makes wussy power for it being a 350.
So what i would do is build up a nice 350 in your garage with all the goodies, you can easily break 400hp on a 350. When it comes to be 2005, drop that bad boy in it.

Cost = $0 !! (traded a beat-to-**** Rustang for it!)

(of course, I've put about $2,000 into it so far, but who's counting?!)

Well it sounds like i may need to rebuild the motor. I and my wife went out and moved it and you hit the gas and the most horrid knock comes out( sounds like rod knock to me) but i maybe mistaken.
You hit the gas so its revving at a decent speed and that when the knock comes. has soon has 7you let off the gas it goes away

when i started looking for my third gen, i test drove probably almost 30 camaros. everything from carbed 305's to 350 TPI's. I decided i wanted t-tops so the factory 350's were not alvaible
after driving so many third gens, i found out that the V6 t-top car were extremly quite compared to the v8 t-top cars....in the end i ended up buying a v6 t-top car, swaped in a nice 350 with custom SFC's and i couldnt be happier.
the swap wasnt difficult at all, i would go this route again any day

atleast where i live, 350 iroc's with t-tops are rare....i looked for almost 6 months and saw one, and it was smashed up pretty good. I didnt see any 91-92 Z28 350 with t-tops, i dont know if they even exist
