Car accident
Car accident
the other day my door was crushed in. it was actually suprisiing that damage taht was caused, since the one at fault backed in to my door at reverse. HOW FAST CAN YOU GO? anyways the door is dentend in about 3 inches, and is from the mirror to the ground effect. LOTS OF WORK TO GET THIS DENT OUT. i know the estimate will reach 800 easy, prolly 1000. im thinking about getting a new door, new v8/ cowl/ram air hood. new fenders from a t/a with air slots. and doing the bondo on various dents of the car. i can also get the car painted myself, but what color? i was thinking kameleon, since it's be original? and it's a 5k paint job getting done for cheap, and free (since i don't have to pay for it) any ideas/ comments/ suggestions...
this will be my first time doing any body work but imma love the experience, and tips on bondo and dents will be helpful.
i know i'll get the money for it since my MOM hit my car...
backing up out of the garage with her 99 firebird, that just has scuff marks, she said she was driving slow... by looking at the door i can't stop myself from saying

Bondo is never the answer. If you replace the fenders the hood and the dents you shouldn't have anything left to do unless the quarter panel is messed up. In which case it needs to go to a body shop for work. Bondo won't last. Bondo needs to be used spareinly for certain things. I try and not use it if I can get away with it.

no joke, all it does is fall off. taking yor 5k paintjob with it. if there is no other way, pound the dent out as much as possible first. aply bondo only as thick as 1/4-1/8 of an inch.
ya im definately not trying to pull this dent out and then bondo it, the shape of the door just wont' be the same, it won't get the same curve, it's possible jsut be a pain in the ***, so im thinking of just replacing it...
Doesn't anyone know how to weld anymore?
Doesn't anyone know how to weld anymore? All you need to do, provided the frame is not thrown off, is to remove the door, get youreslf a door skin for about 250.00 or you may even be able to find a whole door at the local junkyard. then simply have the door sprayed at your local paint shot or that body you mentioned. Unless you got a whole lot of money, take it one step at a time and get the important stuff done first! And always remember, do the work yourself, Never trust your baby to anyone else!

Sorry to hear about ur mom man, that blows.
My mom hit my car in the front end with her 91 Plymoth Voyager.
gota tell ya though, the front end held its own with the mini-van
The whole back end of her car was f*cked up. the door wouldn't open, while the damage on my car just casued for a new front cover.while it was exspensive(300 used) her damage was in the thousands.
yea no bondo whats so every, make ur 5,000 paint job look like a spray can special.
good luck, offer her a trade ur car for the firebird

The door as a whole is bolted on and off at the hinges. He was refering to taking the skin of the door off and welding on a new undented skin.

Stay away form Bondo. Replace what you can. Heck joe is having to replace the rear quarter in his 87. Turns out the owner before the one joe bought it from had a bondo fest and it all started to crack and peel after Joe got the car. Bondo is for light skimming only, not dent filling!
