Interior restoration
Ok, I'm in the middle of restoring my interior, and I got the seats out, and most of the carpet out, but I had to cut the carpet around the front part of the center console, because I can't figure out how to get the console out.
I don't want to break the console, because it's in pretty good condition. I got the top "panels" off so I can look down into the area by the shifter, and the radio (took that out), but I still don't see what is holding the console and those carpet "side panels" on the console.
I found the bolts underneith the glove box, and can lift up the top part of that so I can see the carpet under the console.
Anyone done this, and remembered how they took the console off, or where the bolts/screws were? I can't seem to find them.
Everything has been VERY easy up untill now. Seats came out like a breeze, and most of the carpet came out very easy, as did all of the interior panels.
I used to work at an upholstery shop before (did late 60's mustangs, and 80's chevy trucks/Caminos). Re covering the seats will not be any problem for me, but just getting this darn console out... haha!
Thanks for any help!

Hmm... have you done a search? A lot of people have replaced the carpet and I remember seeing pictures. Not sure if it tells how to get the console out, though...
Maybe there's a tech article...

There is one bolt/screw on either side of the console in the front under the dash. To unbolt the console from the floor you remove the top cover and remove the bolts that anchor it to the floor. I can email you some pics if you need.

Thanks, Vert isn't mine though. I have an 87 Z28 T-top car. I designed the site over two and a half years ago when i didn't have a car. I just used it in the graphic because it looked great.
