.1 second for every 100 pounds. If you completely gut the interior including the dash board and all seats, and throw a single plastic seat in, you might save .15 seconds. Is it really worth it? Unless your car is running 9s, there are MUCH easier ways to go a little faster. What times are you running now?

Dude if its nice leave it in there i've found at all these shows and test and tunes that you usually get more respect for having a car that looks like it should but is fast as hell. You leave it in and people are going to think its just a stock camaro as in no giant shift light or racing harness then you can totally unleash it on em and its kinda like a sleeper i guess. Leave it in you'll thank urself in the future. Someday you may want to toally restore it to new when these things get rare and expensive way in the future and now you have to find a complete interior for it.

Still way too slow to gut the car for a lousy tenth. There's nothing more ridiculous than a car that's been gutted, trailered, caged, tubbed, or had some other sort of similar mod, only to find out it runs 13s.

You know what's impressive? The mustang I saw 3 weeks ago. He drove it nearly 100 miles to the track, ran 10s, and drove it home. He drives it to work regularly. Full interior and still has ice cold air.

You know what's not impressive? The subaru that was *trailered* there and ran 17s. The malibu wagon that's got a 6 point cage, absolutely no interior, is trailered there and runs 12s. The trailered, tubbed monte carlo that sounds like a top fuel car and runs 12s.

going fast is cool. Going faster is cooler. Raping your car of any useful capability for virtually no gain isn't.

I'm going to go with Jim85IROC on this one. Theres no reason to get rid of a nice comfortable interior for a stupid .15 seconds. Unless your running less than 9's it's not needed.

I also agree that it is more impressive to have a car run 11's with full interior and be able to drive home with AC. That's the difference between performance on a F-body and a Civic. One designed for performance with all it's features. The other isn't.

i agree with jim too. even if the car is just a racer, gutting the interior for 1/10th of a second is a complete waste. what if you decide to sell the car? a car that has a nice complete interior is worth a hell of a lot more than a car that runs .1 sec faster.

That mustang was at the track last night. On his run I heard his usual hellacious burnout, heard a great lauch, then shortly later I heard ka-BOOM ka-ting ting ting. He shot half of his rotating assembly out the oil pan.

Doh! That sucks.

Yeah I agree, it isn't worth it for a lousy tenth. But I guess it doesn't matter now.... why do you need to sell all of a sudden?

Yeah thats true that its really cool to see a car that way when it is driven 100 miles both ways. BUT as he has now learned, if you flog yer car like that eventually something WILL break. I don't care how much money you spend, parts will go if you beat on em. Sometimes trailering a car that runs 12's and 13's isn't stupid, its a matter of safety and not wanting to pay big bucks for a wrecker to tow it back home!

I bet the guy with the Mustang wished he would have trailered it to the track that night. At least he would have had a way to get it home.

There's a 9.5 second Firebird on ebay right now:

And he took out the console and the seats... still has the rest it looks like.

Thought I'd throw that in

Something tells me that has to do with the engine, not taking the seats out.
