I've heard that it works just as well, but not too sure. It's made by PPG so you should be able to check it out wherever it is sold.

How many body shops do you know that use anything other than air compressor sprayed on stuff? The roll on primer doesnt sound like it would work too good but im not speaking from exp either. Good luck.

Sure would be fun to watch a guy jamb something out with a paint brush though Maybe they sell textured rollers too so you can match the texture of your interior walls at home to your ride..bling bling

Well guys,

Believe it or not, but there is a special type primer that is rolled on and it smooths out really well. It is used on boats in areas where spray painting would have an impact on the enviroment. It is also rather expensive to boot!!!!!!!

Roll-on primer? Anyone got a link? That sounds so... weird. (laughs) Does it come in different fragrances, like roll-on deodorant?

Well Gentlemen, I have rolled on primer on many occasions, with great success. Actually, it was surfacer, use to be called fill and sand back in the laquer era.

In areas where I was trying to get a dead flat pannel and I was sanding 80-90% of it off anyway, I have rolled it on, a heck of a lot more convient than having to clean a gun and mask off an area. However, the texture was rough before sanding, I didn't care, I was going to sand it down with 180 anyway.

I would never try this for a non sanded area. After I was happy that the panel was flat I then sprayed the sealer primer and painted.

I have seen plenty of professionals use roll on primer so it is definitly not crap. It all depends on what you want to do and how good you are at it. There is a link somewhere in one of the paint your own car threads that goes through a step by step for preping, repairing dents, and painting a 3rd gen. The link is from a shop that does frame off restorations of cars. I think they know what they are doing. There is more than one right way to paint a car, each method has its pros and cons, you just have to deside what is right for you.
