nice big one in the quarter panel. Is something like that even fixable to the point where you can't tell it was ever there? without getting too costly?

will post a picture later today

Depends on how big the dent is and where it is located. A full quarter is gonna cost you about $400, then you have to get it installed and painted. A partial quarter is gonna be around $200, and again, install and paint. A good shop can pull most dents, depending on the size and location. You are still gonna have to get it painted tho..
Good Luck!!!!

the broader the dent like that, the easier the fix
doesnt look all stretched out, that looks like it should mostly pop right back into shape

I had a dent on my '88 Formula a little lower than your dent. The dent was just behind the fender lip back to the marker light, and about 6 inches wide, 1-1/2 inch deep. I had a friend who worked at a body shop take it out from behind and he didn't leave any crease at all. No welding or painting involved. Your dent is much shallower and wider, easier to work out. No reason to weld pins on it to get it out, and shouldn't require paint either. Unless the paint is damaged already.

I'm always preaching paintless dent removal!!!! Find a good tech locally and the dent should be gone. Is there any paint damage? PDR uses reflection to work the damaged area. If the paint is heavily damaged, it will require paint anyways so let a body shop do the work. If there is no paint damage, go the route of PDR.

I will again mention this, dents don't just "POP" out. A force was applied to the metal which caused it to take on a new shape and has been stretched. With PDR, the metal is massaged and shaped back to it's original. A good tech should be able to remove that dent with no signs that it was ever there.

Whatever you do, don't attempt to fix it yourself first, as that will only cause the damaged area to tighten up and be more difficult to repair. It will also cost you more if the tech has to fix what you did.

Last piece of info, don't go to Dent Wizard for the repair. The techs aren't paid much so they will rush to get the job done so they can move on to the next job. An independant will take the time to do it right because his name and reputation are on the line.

You guys are killing me with this plunger stuff! A dent is stretched metal that is held as a dent by the edges. If you stick a plunger on it, yes you can lift the area, but the edges that were holding it are tight and will still have damage to them.

Lightly dent a can with your thumb. With a pencil or pen, slowly push the dent back out. The depth of the damage is gone, but you can still see the edges. It's the same principle with a car. The dent may look like its gone, but the shape is not correct and you will see waves in the panel. It will not have a smooth reflection.

so how do you find one of these paintless dent removal places. I don't have any dents but I am sure I will get one like that someday. do I just look in auto body repair. most places don't list their services, they just say repair.
