There is a line that u can get from Radio Shack that will let you use your fender mounted antenna or window antenna as a CB antenna. But your transmission and receive distance will be very short.
I used one when I travelled cross country, but used a 6 foot antenna with a magnetic base just behind the Ttop area. Got about a 9 to 10 mile range. Just enough time to hear where the truckers see the highway patrol cars.
But a "smokey" report has a residual effect. Truckers will be reporting a Highway Patrol car in the same location for hours as they pass it down the line to each other. When the HP has been gone from that location for awhile.
Jim.

I've got one of the handheld units mounted below the seat with the antenna ran through the stock fender mounted one. You can't even tell I have it. Actually, most times I forget. But it helps when cruising around with my 4x4 buddies.

Here's mine: Uniden 510XL I cut out the ashtray, and slid it in there. I hung the mic from the dash, by my knee. Antenna is a thru-the-glass type from Radio Shack. Works pretty well for as short as it is.

watch Smokey and the Bandit and look at the Antenna on that. Now think of a way to make that detachable when u don't want it there.
i personally plan on getting 1 too, i'm probably going to mount it on the Top where my whipper used to be, but i'll definitly make it removable.

so if you're on a road trip, you'll hear them tell their buddys where they saw the cops. if you're doing 55, that doestn matter... but on a long trip, if you can set the cruise to 75 most of the time, you can drop HOURS off the trip.
plus its good on long cruises to talk to your buddies....

I would like to see some factory-looking CB installs.
I have a handheld unit, but am looking to switch to something will be there all the time and I don't have to lug around.
So, running the antenna to the fender mounted antenna,...is this better than using the rubber ducky antenna? My range seems to really suck with the rubber one. And I don't want any 6 foot thing sticking out of my car.
Do they have a CB that will fit into the CD player slot?
Again though....I would like to see some more CB installs,...especially factory-looking ones.

My father drove trucks for years. His brother always ran dual Fire Sticks, said they were the best of the best. My father always liked a single K40. One night when his brother and his brothers son were driving, he picked up a lady a LONG time with the K40 then the dual Fire Sticks did. Then again, the K40 is something like 6 or 7 feet tall.

If you are going to use CB's...
You gotta look cool when you do it, like this guy...
You don't wanna look like a total **** when you use it, like this dude...

You took the word right out of my keyboard.
Get yourself a magnetic base with either a wilson 2000 whip or a wilson 5000 whip.
I have been thinking about putting a CB in the car, but haven't really decided as of yet. I probally will since I have one in my Peterbilt.
