Another "almost stock" fog light replacement

It must have been fate... earlier in the day I was looking at my fog lights and noticing how cracked the lenses were and how rusted the reflectors were. Later that evening, I was pushing a cart down the aisle at Meijers when I hit the bottom shelf. Something fell off the shelf onto the lower level of my cart. Lo and behold, it was a set of fog lights that are almost identical to stock!

They come the lenses, reflectors, plastic retainers, and bulbs all work w/ the stock housing/wiring w/ no modifications. The only thing that I needed was a tab connector to hook the ground wire from the fog light to the stock ground wire.

They stick out of the housing about 1/8" farther than stock, and they don't have that metal piece inside that blocks a direct view of the bulb. But I turned them on last night and they looked fine -- and noticeably brighter than the stock pieces w/ rusted reflectors.

They were $19.99 for a set of 2, including bulbs... a pair of bulbs alone is about $10! The brand is Navigator by Pilot, the model is NV-100, and the UPC is 7-57558-88100. If there's no Meijers near u, I found this
website
The package on the website is different... I'm including a pic of what I bought in the store. The NV-102 model has yellow reflectors, if u want that for some reason.

I don't know how they compare to the Blazers they sell at AutoZone, but I'm pretty happy w/ them -- especially considering how much cheaper they are than the GM part!

Yes, but I just connected mine to the stock wiring and they work fine.

Wal mart also has close to stock fog lights and they are only like $15. They are in a package that says "Blazer"

A near exact replacement, except for the mounting, is the Blazer type with the yellow fog light that has the bulb cover in the center. Take them apart, spray down the reflector with some brake cleaner to remove the yellow and they look identical to the factory lamp, and won't rust out. Under twenty bucks. The uncovered bulb in the driving lights will give more light though and the beam reaches out further.

This was for my Trans Am... from what I understand, the Camaros use different fog lights. I don't know if it would fit in your car or not.

Yeah, I thought about doing something like that, but then u'd have to break the seal between the lens and the reflector (without breaking either of them). Also, it's another potential path for water to get in and blow the bulb.

I put the Blazers (20 bucks at Kragen Auto) in my 91 Firebird, to replace the stock foglamps. I used gasket maker to seal the lens to the plastic housing, (didn't use the metal back piece they came with) to keep water out, and used the chrome frames they came with, screwed them in with the stock screws and plastic holders. They look great, really bright, they are just angled a bit, because the stock fogs were kind of triangular, so now the lights have kind of a mean look to them. Very good for 20 bucks!

I used the "hyper whites" from Wally world. $43.00 and they are bright as hell. I replace the stock 55 watt bulbs with 100 watts.

Damn near a stock fit. Look good too, with a clear lens cover.

Jim.

Very little rewiring to do. Was a straight "bolt on" if I remember correctly.
