im taking my dash off to solve some rattling problems and i found this....what is it?

im pretty sure its not a light....but it looks like it came from the factory and not from a previous owner. Im pretty sure that little plastic garage door opener mount its from a previous owner, but not the "government spy tool"

It is a light designed to light up the ash tray area. they are usually dead and need to be replaced..

are u sure its a light? i cant see any filament in it...does anyone have a pic of this light up?

GM refers to it as a fiber optic light, that is why you don't see a filament.

I nice 10,000mcd super brite LED would be better. Just be sure to place a current-limiting resistor in-line with it.
