Anyone go in spurts of being uninterest in their thirdgen?
I had all these big plans for my thirdgen, POR-15 the whole engine bay, do some suspension mods, new rear end.
I haven't touched the maro in 2 months, heck I haven't laid eyes on it in a month.
What do you guys do for a "jump start" on getting on a project?
I can't MAKE myself do anything to it, even though I know I should!

Heh, maybe just leave it sit until you are motivated again? I dunno, it's a hobby, you should just do it when you feel like it. If your forcing yourself to do it, it's more like work then.

Its never happened to me,Im missing mine like crazy right now and its only been in garage for like 2 months.But Id just go through here and check out a bunch of old threads and find some videos of modded third gens. Think back to the day you bought it and how you felt and invision how you want it to look and feel after youre done.
In addition to what the above members said,
To take on a project, big or small, do some planning. Figure out what needs to be done first, not has to done, and what is the most important. If you figure stuff out, get the parts, you will get stuff done faster. The big thing that sucks about these projects and mini-projects is the amount of time they can consume. Watch your budget/parts/time and you should be fine.

that hapiens to me from time to time, and it really depends on the season anymore, since i'm prety much done driving mine this year and i'm back in my z34 lumina i want to work on that more now, and in the summer months i want to do more to the camaro

My interest level always changes. During the spring and summer, my interest in the car is usually very high, but I find myself too busy with day-to-day stuff to actually work on it. In the winter my focus tends to shift toward speaker building, plus having an unheated garage kind of hampers any motivation for working on the car.

I'm in the same spot. I have a completed engine on the stand. It's been there for 2.5 months. Time is part of my issue but I know I can make time. Once the spring bug hits I'll get motivated again.
Sometimes it is nice to just take a break. Do some other things.

the biggest thing to keep a person motivated on a project is progress. If you get a car, decide that the car needs a restoration, and say, well, lets just strip it and fix everything, it'll be a long time until you see anything become better than it was b4 hand, instead, you see a mess of projects that need to be done.
My old roommate just recently bought a 73' honda CB750 which he intends on getting running as his first bike. The project started with "you need to get these parts to get things running so we can see how it stands" And then there were the things that needed to be done, new chain, new tires, new plugs, oil, coil and wires, fork seals, etc....well, instead of tackling one issue at a time, such as, get the chain on, get the tires redone (maybe one at a time, do the fork seals, etc) he's trying to tackle everything at once. Now, there's a motorcycle frame and engine sitting on my basement floor, waiting for the forks to go back on, the wheels to be put on, the wiring harness to be covered, the coil to be installed, the oil to be changed, and the headlight wiring to be worked out, in addition to a million other small things....work small, if you own a business, and have 30 employees who will be there everyday for that paycheck, work big, because we could care less if they get "un-motivated". lol.

i have the same problem i started work on it 3 years ago, got it to the frame, welded in the roll cage and i just havent doen anything since. just lost the drive to work on it. didnt help i bought a new truck and ive been playing with, but ill never sell the maro and one day it will drive again.

You guys think its not fun working in an unheated garage, tyr and imagine what the winter does to your motivation in the middle of pa without any type of garage at all.....I dont like being cold....and wet

all i been doing is watching camaro's racing and other sthings at streefire.com man them cars there make me hard
i want to do so much to my car , new engine tranny others but with less then a grand to my name , laid off , car down for winter , i dont realy have much to go on
let alone i cant even get the things stock engine to run
doing warer pump and pulley chain next , timing has been advnaced by some **** who i told to just change out my raiditor casue i did not have the time now i got to look into that
ahhh the love of it all =)
and i am still changing my interior from red to black casue a purple car dont go well with red =)

Not only is it a case of money (which I have the lack of), but sometimes you just need to take a breath and leave it alone. Rather than dog it out and just sit there and drink beer. Drink beer having fun elsewhere until you catch your breath. There for a long while I was spending my entire weekend working on my project. Haven't been back out in almost 3 months. Oh well, another month of driving my Saturn go-cart should cure me of that.

The thing about sport bikes is you can't control yourthrottle, no matter how hard you try... just knowing the power is there makes you want to crack it wide open on every on ramp, traffic light, and straight-away. thats why it didnt take me long to tire of my buddies r6 when it was at my disposal all summer.....back to topic though.....I lost alot of motivation when I decided to go back and finish school....I had my flaunt with expendable cash, and probably wont see that again for years....which makes keeping a well-done car with a crappy engine so hard.

i think what you need is a nice windshield vinyl and a new set of wheels....sounds stupid, but it's what got me more interested in my own car...without them , my car came off as BORING to me...i almost hated my car before i got the chevy decal and the wheels...
and to think that i almost sold it for a freaking eclipse at one time...
