89' column in a 91'

Will a 89' Camaro column fit in my 91' GTA? I have a friend that has one brand new and i really need one. Someone told me that 89's will only fit in 89's and nothing else. Does anyone know for sure?

any 82-92 column will fit.

HOWEVER....

you have VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System)
the 89 column has VATS so that will work.

Make sure the 89 coulmn has the same features as yours
(Cruise Control, Intermittant Wipers, Etc.)

And you're good to go!

I had an 89 Camaro and put an 84 firebird column in it. I just bypassed VATS, but I lost my cruise and Int. Wipers... I desperately needed it, and It was only $10.

YES it will fit, but if the 89 column doesnt have cruise or int. wipers... you'll lose that. (just a plug from the car that has nowhere to go. No big deal.

I did away with cruise anyways. If it doesnt have int. wipers, will i still have wipers though?

You'll have wipers, just no int. setting. The plug on a column with no int. wipers is just missing a few wires, but it plugs right in no problem.

you will still have vats, as 89 was the first year to have it believe, but you wont have the plugs for your airbag, and you will need a new steering wheel

Im not worried about the airbag but why do i need a new steering wheel. This one has a Grant on it. But even if it didnt why would i need a new one?

Thanks
