hood pin issues

hood pin issues
im putting hood pins in and i drilled the holes in the core support next to where the rubber stops are. but when i shut the hood it doesnt stick out far enough because the core support is boxed. has anyone had this problem? and what did you do to fix it

my latch is messed up and its a pain in the *** to open so some hood pins in the front seemed like a good idea, my hood is shot neways

I dunno what kinda hood pins you have. But i have the Mr Gaskets ones. They're double nutted. One nut goes down below the core support, the other one on top. I remember in the core support there were holes in them about 1 1/2" in diameter. I stuck my finger in the hole,balanced the nut on my finger and started turning the rod part till it started threading. Definate pain,but do able. Hope this helps a little

one reason i think i need pins is: i have a fiberglass hood and when i'm going over 80mph, the corners of the hood start lifting up due to the air being pushed up from the headlights....either hood pins or headlight covers would make the car more aero!

i had the same problem with the double nut pin. I didn't like the hole in the raidator support as a good position for the pins so i cut a whole in the radiator support and used that hole to hold that bottom nut. It resulted in a nicely placed pin and still a structurally secure radiator support.

mine are threaded as little as possible on the core support and i can barely put my clip things in
