How to prevent dashboards from cracking.

Tell me, this seems like a common thirdgen tragedy.... I think t-top shades would help with t-top cars. So would a carpet dash cover. I have leftover carpet and can make both of those. And a windshield heat deflector, maybe? What else can be done?

I hit my knee on my dashpad getting into the car on a 0 degree day and cracked the corner. I'm just gonna give it a coat or 2 of resin and paint the whole thing to match the color of my car

mines had about zero special care over the years, just wiped down with a damp cloth, no armorall. and a sun shade used in the windshield on hot days. and it has yet to crack over the past 19 years.

Mine cracked in the cold after having it stored for the winter. Winters can be brutal in Wisconsin. I too use the 303 product. Its worth it. Never armoral. It dries the dashpad out.

WOW never heard of it till now, I am getting some on Monday. My convertible top will appreciate it. Although it never sees sun, cause if its sunny the top is down other wise it's in the garage. Sounds like a great product. The plastic window on my vert you can barely see through.

most stuff is water based, used black magic stuff, its oily goop. soak the dash down with half a bottle n let it back in the sun.

dash will never crack.

Dashboard

A Dash Cover is a Good Option if all else Fails . Heres a Pic of one I have on my 3RD Gen, it's the Lay On Kind that I had to do Modifications to , but there are Also Custom Dash Covers you could Try . If You CANNOT SEE IT , Then It's Not There , Right ? Wink...

drown your dash pad in baby oil, you can stick your thumb into the dash and it won't crack. old detailers trick.. reapply a few times per year.
