Need honest opinions on GFX
Do you think my car would look "retarded with 82-84 Z28 GFX...I have a 84 Sport Coupe and dont want to change the nose and was just wondering if it would look bad with them on or not. These GFX has the slots in the nose GFX but my car has slots in the nose itself. Check my garage to see it and maybe photoshop one. I just want to know.

but u think it will be alright? i mean i like the nose thats on my car right now...does a Z28 have a special vin number? cause if i change the nose, i might as well change all the emblems to make it a Z28. Plus i would probably have to fabricate something to make it fit since theyre not for the nose...i really dont want to change the nose and everything....but i just want to know 2 things....will it look right and can it be done.

i'm 99% sure that the VIN denotes z28 or not.
i think the most you will have to do is notch your fenders to make it fit right
like i said, change the nose, for it to look right.

if you put the gfx on it without the proper nose, it'll look really outta place. however, i vote for no gfx and to keep the car as it sits...the thing looks awesome!

ok well whats the vin number and place that says if its a Z28....cause if it doesnt have one, i would change it...because when i decoded mine, it said theyre all the same...

The car looks tough the way it is right now, and would look tougher if it were lowered. The right rims and the right stance make the car, IMO. No need to worry about the GFX right now if you're gonna lower the car anyways. Once thats done, and if it still doesn't look right, then think about it.

Since the topic says "honest opinions on gfx" thats what ill give ;p
GFX are nice, and I prefer them more on camaros then firebirds, however I rarely see a nice camaro without gfx, and yours is pretty good looking.. I see beat rs's or irocs, or nice examples yadda yadda, and the occasional beat looking sport coupe, would be awesome to see some more nice ones rolling around that havent already gone with the trendy approach and swapped on later style bumpers and gfx

yea thats why i wanted to go with the older GFX, but you are definately right. I dont see too many cars with my nose around these parts except for one kid who has an 83 thats yellow. But i will look into lowering my car if you guys really think that it would look better. I mean, i cant lower it too much since down here we have huge speed bumps compared to the ones back in Long Island where im from. And also, I really dont like the idea of cloning. Thats why i didnt want to change the nose. I think cloning is really idiotic. I mean, I'd rather say my car is an original rather than saying its a real Z28 and then some1 decifer my VIN number. Ok even tho this is in the body and interior, how low do u think this car should be. It has the stock springs on it. I am planning on doing suspension upgrades so this will be takin into notice.

A 1 or 2 inch drop usually looks pretty nice. Run a search on the Detailing and Appearance board for lowering springs and you can get a pretty good idea of what it will look like. And though the VIN may not reveal whether or not it's a Z28 or not, a quick look at the RPO codes will. The ground effects might look nice, but don't try to pass it off as a Z28.

to put on GFX im pretty sure youll need to change the nose anyhow. personally i like the GFX alot, but to each his own, its what you want. go over to the photoshop board with a pictur of the front of your car and the front of a car with the GFX you want, and have someone give you an idea.

nah its ok. I have my mind set. Im going to keep it as it is since if i do buy it, id have to get it painted and my paintjob is a blue to chameleon fade at bottom so it would cost a lot. Just got one more question for you guys. Im not too big into the suspension details, but who has the best feedback on lowering springs for third gens. The springs in there now took a day to put in since it was a nightmare. I was just wondering since it seems a bit cheaper in the long run and so my car doesnt lose its personality.

Eibach and Hotchkis are two of the bigger companies that make good springs. I just bought the Hotchkis set for my '92 since I heard they give a gentler ride, and I do drive the car on a semi-daily basis. There are a few other brands with good reputations as well, but I can't remember the names right now. Anyway, a good set of springs will run you about $250. And you're gonna have to redo a lot of the other suspension parts too if you lower the car. The new stance will alter the geometry of certain parts. Check the suspension boards for more info on that.
