Swapping out Lexan t-tops for glass...
A fellow board member tpihearse tried to sell me some glass tops last summer, however they did not fit on the car right...near the windshield the top left a gap when it was cranked down. He gave me new t-top latch pin receivers to install, and said once I did glass tops would fit. However, he and I were both surprised they didnt fit anyway. I remember all the way back in 1990 or so, my mother's '89 RS received glass tops under warranty...the dealer swapped them off an 8k mile car on the lot because her Lexan tops were already cracking. They went right on with no modification.
So why does my '91 require new receivers, or am I missing something? By the way, tpihearse if you happen to see this I am planning to call you this week about grabbing some glass tops from you
Thanks to anyone who can help!! Hopefully there'll be no more Lexan soon!!!

mayb your glass ones got adjusted before you got the car. or the lexan ones were modified. but if all you have to do is adjust your pin reciever pieces then thats not that bad.

So I don't need to remove my original Lexan pin receivers?? I can just adjust them? How can I do that?
I swore I needed to change the pin receivers, based on other things I had seen on here...

First off, whats different about the t-tops
The pin size or do they simply not ft right or latch on
GM used 2 diff pin sizes over the years, large and small
If this is your problem then just remove the cover and swap the linkage over from your old lexans
If they dont fit or latch right then you just need to adjust the recievers
Take down the little plastic trim pieces that cover where the t-top pins go in, there are 2 screws on each reciever letting you move it up down and at angles
Trial and error here

Just to reiterate what Pocket has already said:
There is no reason why glass tops won't fit on a Lexan-top equipped car. I swapped out my squeaky Lexan tops for glass this past summer.
The only area that might be causing a problem here are the pin receivers. Earlier receivers had smaller holes, for the smaller pins on the t-tops. The last couple years of thirdgen production saw t-tops with larger pins, so the recivers had larger holes. Match your receiver to your pin size, adjust the tops properly, and you'll be fine.
